Its great to hear all your stories on the .22 rifles. I have a third which is a Savage Model 6A. Its well used and requires cleaning after about eighty rounds through it. It belonged to my Dad and I acquired it about two years ago from my oldest brother. Its missing the right extractor but is still a tack driver today. Started looking for replacement part at Numrich to get it back in full service. The stock is well nicked up and I prefer to shoot it over the Ruger 10/22 that my son has. My son doesn't like it because his is newer, but one day he will understand that that old gun is still a damn good shootin firearm.

I'd take a Browning or Henry over the Marlin. I've shot all three, but only owned the Marlin 39A. The 39A I had was a POS. I could have done better throwing the bullets at the target. Very disappointed in the 39A. I know I'm just one case, but it was enough to sour me on the 39A. It has been a long time since I handled a Browning, but I remember I liked it. I shot a Henry not too long ago and it was quite fun, smooth and accurate. Also, the Marlin is the longest, heaviest and most expensive of the three. To me a .22 lever action should be short, fast handling and light.

You can't go wrong with a Henry, I just picked up another for $311.00 over the counter. Henry customer service center is also above par. Good luck with your decision.

Never shot a Henry. My Marlin was clunky and not extraordinarily accurate. Loved the handling characteristics of my 16 1/2" Winchester 9422 and wish I had kept it, although it occasionally had mis-feeds. I've had a Browning BL-22 for 40 years, and I love it; it's the only rifle I've ever kept for a long period of time - light, slick-handling; the short lever throw spoils you for other lever guns.

I have the Golden Boy .22 and it is a very accurate. The action is so smooth. I would buy the plain version H001 because the Golden Boy is too pretty to use for hunting.

I had a Golden Boy for about a decade. Fantastic gun. I sold it to a friend about a year ago because I wanted a .22 lever I could toss in my truck without thinking too much about buggering up such a nice-looking gun. I also wanted something a bit lighter and more compact. I replaced the GB with a Henry youth model.

Well The Henry finally got the best of me, and I bought it last Friday and shot it for the first time this morning. I paid $309 for it and after shooting it this morning my opinion is it was worth every penny.

Thanks
I would post a pic, but this site seems to be the only site where I can't do that directly from the pics on my computer to the forum. Anyhow it's the HOO1 Henry 22 with the 18-1/4 " barrel. It's a good looking very nice shooting rifle.

If I can NOT scope a rifle, at some future date, I do not buy it.
Unless you have great genetics your vision will challenge you on open sights at some point in time..vision focal point corrected shooting glasses can help with pistols but scopes for me on rifles. Age 75.

I have a Henry Golden Boy. It is a beautiful gun. Fit and finish is perfection. The action is as smooth as silk. And best of all, it's made in America.

I also regret getting rid of my Winchester 94/22. If I had to buy a lever action .22 at today's prices I'd get another Henry H001. Should have kept that one too. tom.

Just Walmarted a Henry. The walnut stock is very nice. I have owned a 39A as well as a BL22 grade 2. All are nice guns.

Just handled a Browning bl-22 for the first time at the LGS, very nice. Will have to juggle my finances some so I don't have to give up the Henry .22!
