Great catch looks almost new from the pictures. I would love to have a 226, I have owned a 220, and have a P-239 now, but there is just something about the 226. I am sure you will enjoy it.

I was not aware of the frame rail problem. Does SIG replace the frames of pistols with defective rails? Did SIG eventually correct this problem with pistols they produced later?

I don't know if there was ever a rail problem, just maybe not properly maintained. Some more knowledgeable may chime in.

It was a little difficult to find a nice one for reasonable money, and I wanted a WG version without a rail, so I limited myself somewhat. So what I am saying is go find one now while you can.

"To hell and back reliability" may not just be a cleaver marketing slogan. In 2007 I purchased a certified pre owned P226 with no rails. I have sense fired about a minimum of 6000 rounds in various training classes and day trips to the range. Yes, only 6000 rounds because i do own eight other handguns that i enjoy shooting also. I can tell you that my rails look just as great as the OP rail pictures. There is no telling how many rounds my P226 has had prior to me owning the gun. During all of my ownership it has never given me a malf, truly a great and dependable fun shooting gun.

I like Sigs. I've been carrying a P239 in .40 for a number of years. I just picked up an older german P220, almost no wear. Great pistol.

So in addition to my famous (in my mind) NP3'd Spartan, I have another firearm that bac1023 doesn't have, and more importantly, actually wants?!?!

I love my 1988 WG Sig Sauer P226!

I have a mid-1980s P226 whose slide shakes, rattles and rolls, yet somehow it kept putting the rounds into tight groups.

Now, if I could find me a P220 in .38 Super, I'd be one happy mofo.

Well, I do have a P226 X-Five.

Does that count?

Nope, it's not from the Bundesrepublik Deutschland so it doesn't count.
