Lying, as usual. The biggest criticism I ever hear of the NRA's position is that they are not hard line enough against gun control.
Obama is trying that political trick, where you gain support by using fake polls to convince people that other people support you. I've never figured out how that works, other than stupid herd mentality.

that's exactly how it works. the strength in numbers theory. i guess the sheep all figure there can't be that many neck downs that can't bother to check facts....and then don't bother to believe that, as usual, they are wrong.

The country is crumbling, in so many ways and this is his priority? That, right there, should tell any citizen, with half a brain, exactly where he is coming from and where he wants to go.

You might want to vote on the poll on the link provided by the OP.

Obama trying to show NRA supporters that the NRA is not supporting their collective interest through a BS poll funded by one of his pet gun control campaign projects???
This is just too much. I hope it backfires on him.

We allow them to control the language of the debate too much.
It seems the great battle in this is for the minds of "low information voters." Terminology seems to be everything in this latest round. For example, every time "they" say gun violence our counter should be to relabel it "criminal violence."
Reframe it. "The NRA is working hard with responsible legislators to find practical solutions to curtail criminal violence..." rather than playing into their frame that gun violence is the issue. That term lets them continue to focus on the objects they despise rather than addressing the behavior or the societal element that is doing the bad things.
This is not an "assault rifle." This is a personal protection firearm. Etc.
Just spitballing...

It may well depend on how the poll is worded - we don't often get to see the questions that were asked.
Something like "Do you support an assualt weapons ban or would you prefer that ALL firearms in civilian hands be collected and melted down" could well result in firearms owners choosing the former over the latter if only given the two choices. It likely wouldn't be as blatantly obvious as my example, but it wouldn't be too difficult to push the poll results in the direction that you want by carefully crafting the questions.

I'm afraid the NRAnand gun owners are unprepared in terms of resources and orginazation to count the Obama mobilization and the continual access granted him through the media to spread his message of lies and misinformation. LaPierre isn't up to it and there is only a disorganized assembly of poor communicators scrambling to respond in the four seconds afforded them. This means there is no cohesive message being presented to the large population of people in the middle that are neither gun owners nor emotionally committed to either side. Hes already claimed the high ground. His ideas are "common sense". Even "the majority of gun owner agree". See, even the "Law enforcement community agrees". Every media event is scripted and packaged. Obama is running this like any other campaign and he has the power, resources and opportunity to destroy LaPierre and the NRA.

Obama should finish the war on drugs, then he can focus on killer bad guys.
