Replace Rob Leatham grips on a TGO

A friend gave me a Springfield Armory 1911. I want to replace the grips on it with an exotic wood. I'm not sure what grips will fit, or are they pretty much generic?

QUALITY grips will fit, $23 e-bay grips may give you issues.
I would suggest Esmeralda or Sarge......both are outstanding!

That's a good friend that gave you a TGO!

+1 on the Esmeralda grips. I like that you can see photos of the actually grips you choose.

Springfield supplies 2 sets of grips with the TGO1. If you don't have both sets, you might want to look into getting the set you are missing.
I took the wood Leatham signature set off mine and use the thin micarta ones that came with it. They fit my hands very well.

e-bay grips are usually good fitting, get ones from a seller that takes returns, avoid the ones from Thailand, nice wood but don't fit right.

Thanks for the responses. What had me confused was the thin grips. I guess the best way to tell what cuts I may need is to call. I definitely like the idea of seeing "the" grips I order. The hard part is choosing.
One site that kept popping up on the searches was RAASCOGRIPS, no one mentioned it so I was wondering if this is a bad site?
My buddy's too old to shoot and wants his guns to be appreciated and used, not sold for a few bucks. Good guy, good philosophy.
