Getting away with what?
There's already another thread going on about this topic, BTW.
I noted in it that I remember when just ONE of the listed fed agencies used to take delivery of decently large shipments of ammunition, even going back more than 10 years ago. I remember just ONE order of 32M rounds of .40 S&W for that ONE agency back then ... and they were burning through a lot of it for training.
If a large police agency at the state/local level can require 400K rounds of ammunition once or twice a year, just to keep up with training/qual demands, I certainly don't see it as being unusual for much larger fed agencies ...
especially involving training centers ... to be ordering ammo in the amounts that have been listed in recent months.
I'd not be inclined to let the blurring of numbers of ammo used in regional conflicts and military missions be used to create perspectives of ammo used for state-side LE use, either.
This is the sort of thing that creates heavy demand and price increases for aluminum foil, you know?
