Which H&K in 9mm?

I am looking to add another 9mm to my collection and with all the good things I hear about H&Ks I am very interested in them despite the price tag. I have a Glock 19 which I like but I have never gotten completely comfortable with not having a manual safety. I also have a M&P shield for CCW which I like as well. I have looked at the 3 different models on H&Ks website but I was hoping for some recommendations from those who have first hand experience. My local gun stores don't have the 3 models to compare. Most only have one if I am lucky. This firearm will be a home protection and range gun and will likely replace my Glock 19 for financial reasons only. I don't intend to carry it for CCW.I was looking for more of a full size firearm this time but not against a mid range size either.I just don't want a sub compact. I like the look of the P30 or P30L but have yet to hold one.Thanks for the advice.

I have a P30 V1 Lite LEM, which I purchased from Top Gun Supply. It was the first H&K I've owned (but only by an hour!) I picked up the P30 and an HK45 the same day. Got the call for the FFL, and got the other one because I missed my opportunity to get the HK45CT model previously.

I didn't go with the V3 version, which has a decocker on it, and has a DA/SA trigger. I prefer my SIG Sauer pistols for those kinds of triggers. The H&K LEM trigger is outstanding!

Regarding the P30/P30L, the backstrap and side straps are interchangeable, so you'll be able to find a combination that works best for you. Magazines are expensive (more expensive than the Glock magazines) so keep that in mind. Cross Creek Guns sells them at great prices when they have them available, and you can contact them to be added to a wait list now.

Trijicon has released their HD night sights for this model, too. A lot of folks (myself included) are excited about this, and pre-ordered some earlier this year. The sights which shipped with my P30 are glow-in-the-dark sights. You can hit them with a flashlight and they'll lights up for a little while, and are plenty bright, too. Since you'll be using for HD, I'd recommend a light and/or laser for yours.

The one big change I had to work on was the magazine release--it's a lever on the trigger guard.

For range and home defense the HK P30 is the Mercedes of pistols. To me the perfect carry pistol that is also great to shoot at the range and use for home defense is the P2000. Bill

I avoided the P30 of a long pig time, just based upon the SpiderMan
styling. However once I finally had one in hand,.......holy crap!

I bought a P30, basically the same dimensions as a G19. The
grip inserts can be changed around to best fit the shooter's grip
size and comfort. I am an average size guy, I found that using
the medium size right panel, medium back strap and a small left
worked best for me.
The grip is the most comfortable I have felt. Also has an amazing
amount of grip, very comfortable, does not slip or shift when shooting.

As for night sights,.........I chose Meps, they are the brightest
sights available, also non-snag design.

P30 in the hand is hand is hard to beat.

USP and P2000 are nice also.

Having shot all but not in 9 I like the P30.

They are all nice but the P30 is the latest evolution of the series I believe.

I live in Kent Ohio, I am going to check at my local range and see if they have any as a range gun. They have a pretty good selection of range guns.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I have narrowed my choice between the P30 or the P2000. I have a weapon mounted light for home protection and my understanding is the USP doesn't have a universal rail.

Which tigger does everyone prefer the DA/SA or the LEM

If you want a Picatinny rail? Then P30.
I prefer V1 Light LEM.
But opinions vary. LEM seems to be a Love/Hate thingy...

If you go with the P30, P30S is what you want. It has the manual safety. The other P30 models do not.

I would go with a P30. I have the LEM, but only because I normally shoot striker-fired so prefer a consistent trigger.

the lem is the best trigger but you do need to understand how it works. I have a YouTube video explaining how to shoot with the lem, if I get a chance ill post a link or do a search for QuikTrain or Blactical and you will see my channel and can find it.

I like the P2000 LEM. You really can't go wrong with either one.

Another vote for the P30 from me! Mine has all but replaced my G19.

Took a little time to get used to the DA/SA trigger but I've gotten really good with it!

Very few guns I would buy with fondling it first.

Thanks for the feedback. My local range has a p30 as a range gun so I think I am going to shoot it side by side with my Glock 19 so I can compare them and make sure it's worth the extra investment for me. I did hold one at the a local gun store and it sure felt nice.
