I'm infected! The need for AK mags has bitten me.

I just bought my first AK (SLR-106U).
You're recommended to use these Bulgarian Circle 10 Waffle mags.
So like my handguns I got six mags and felt good.
But with all the crazy the supply of these mags seems to have evaporated.
Plus the price of the remaining mags seems to have doubled and tripled.

So even with all this going on.
And knowing I should just be patient and wait.
With each week that goes by I seem to fold and buy a few more.

Hopefully this latest batch of four mags will cause the fever to break.

You will end up having 2 mags that you actually use, and 50 sitting in the closet in the box collecting dust for next 6 years until you eventually sell the gun and the mags to get something else.

10 is probably the least I would feel comfortable with. I have over 20 and wouldn't mind to have some more. Since the price of mags is beyond reasonable, I just bought a few mag springs and floor plates so I can repair mags later down the line.

You sound very specific about what will happen.
Like maybe you've been there and done that? LOL

I was thinking the same thing.
Actually had a thread asking how many.
Seemed like ~10 was a consensus minimum per gun.

Logically ~10 seems right and I added four to my six.
Then I started twitching, thinking of a ban and emotions took over.
Few here, a few there and fifteen seemed like the right number.
Right now the available supply of Arsenal Circle 10 Bulgy 5.56 clear waffle 30s is nearly non-existent.

Last night I cracked and ordered four more.
Guess nineteen is the magic number.

Now I can sleep easy.

mags are likely to be the only part that you will lose, drop on the ground, step on or get mashed in your range bag. they generally don't cost much compared to the cost of the rifle and they are essential to the weapon. get as many as you can, just saying.

Thanks,
This last batch will put me at Nineteen Circle 10 30 round waffles.
That Feels Like a good number to me for now...
Got one of the last cases of 2012 Lake City M855 green tip penetrators too.

Getting in the game late has really tested my mettle.
I can't wait for this badness to pass.

Now all you lack is a couple after market barrels for your new Arsenal. I have the SGL21/61 and a total of nine mags. Seven are circle 10s, I'm doing my best.....

For new Bulgarian 5.56 Clear AK Waffle 30rd Mag
the crazy Obummer price is now $60!

I've only bought six at that price.
You're better off waiting till the dust settles - if it ever does....

I would not pay more than $35, the panic will subside and the prices will return to normal by the end of this year, I am pretty sure of that. Would be sooner, but everything is backordered out the ass.

I have 10 for each rifle, which I find to be plenty. If it was 10 crappy mags I would not feel confident in that amount at all, but 10 quality mags is plenty imo.

Wow! You ppl that think this will pass need to get on POPVOX and see the onslaught of new weapon restriction bills and legislation in the pipe.

21.6 billion Hollow Point rounds, huh? I hear they (DHS) want to be friends.

UNREAL!

May I observe that the timing of your urges is poor.

I really agree, as most do, that ~10 quality mags per gun will do.
Truly - my thinking is that down the road I may get a second Arsenal 5.56.
And getting the gun could be a lot easier than getting mags to run it on.
If I already have 19 circle 10s?
All I need is a second Arsenal 5.56 weapon.

And wouldn't that be nice?
Maybe a folder to go with the SLR-106U?
Or possible a sniper gun or full size battle rifle?

Really don't think I can lose with a few extra mags.
I got raped on the price, but at least I can sleep easy at night.
