I have a 16" LaRue PredatAR in .308.

It's pretty good.

SIG 716 is a piston driven 308- just trying to tie a price to a place most could relate to - Walmart. Also shows delta between 308 and 556 is right at $500 for the same style rifle.

Hey man, wish I did, but they're a bit scarce right now. My typical go-to place for long range shooting, including for sale items is SnipersHide, which is an excellent site. I've done a bit of research and found that about 98% get their LMT Modular Weapon Systems in .308 to start with...which makes sense given that is the standard market offering and the one that gets hyped due to the British military using it. Then a lot of folks who are into distance shooting decide to expand to .260 since in many folks' opinion is the next best option when you look at the modular system barrels offered by LMT. I guess third best, after 308 and 260 would be 6.5 Creedmore. Never been too much of a 338 Federal fan; now .338 Lapua is a different story, but no way that long of an action could work on that rifle!

Have not been on the Hide in a while. I love .308 and need to see what I can do with the LMT.

No doubt. I think the general consensus is that the LMT is sub-MOA out to 1,000 yards, which is pretty close to the max range for a .308 cartridge out of a 16" barrel. I'm having a fit to go to a 1,000 yard range just to see what I can do at really long distances. Furthest I can manage is just over 300 yards on some land owned by a buddy's family, but the LMT rocks at that distance and everything in between. I got a good data book for keeping track of my distance shooting. Starting to get a good "database" built up so I've now become pretty efficient at doping the scope depending on the distance and windage.

The LMT MWS is a bit of a tank. I certainly wouldn't want to haul it around, up and down a mountainside that is. The modularity is cool: buy a 16" chrome-lined barrel version for blasting away (and theyre pretty darn accurate anyways) for $2500-$3k (depending on supplier) and then a $500-$600 stainless barrel in all kinds of fun calibers. When the .308 is the parent case, 6.5 creedmore is hard to beat for long range stuff.

If its a target only gun, then a gap-10. (People argue about a lot, but I've NEVER heard anyone say bad things about a gap-10, for flat out accurate that is)

If I want lightweight and a first round hit, then I'm partial to my LaRue PredatAR.

The only other .308 semi I've shot is a SCAR-H. It was easily minute-of-face accurate at about 600yds..... Easily. That was with an Elcan 1/6x and a can on the end.

Hmmmmmm, will have to look into that. Thought LMT had patent rights in the barrel design.

Thanks for the tip!

I'd put a different caliber on a rifle in a hot second. The MWS is nice because you don't have worries about stretching out the threads on an upper receiver.

I'm with you. I mean, I wouldn't mind a .308 in an AR platform; however, I have no need as I have a FAL and this beast:
