Changes to 2013 Colt LE6920's

I'm all about variations and it looks like Colt has made some changes to the standard LE6920 for 2013

"Starting in 2013 - Colt rifles will come with the Magpul MBUS rear sight, one 30rd Magpul magazine and a manual. They will no longer come with a cleaning kit, carry handle or sling"

Cost cutting measure, I'm guessing.

Not only that by but makes more sense for the better percentage of their buyers. Seeing as the great majority of their buyers are going to use a 30 round mag instead of couple of 20's. The better part will also ditch the carry handle rear sight, and replace it with some sort of flip up. And the cleaning kit will most likely get tossed in the back of the safe and replaced by other means. Not everyone, no doubt but the greater majority will

All that sounds great except the Magpul MBUS. I would much prefer metal to plastic on that one.

That is still a great price for that rifle...even from an LE distributor

I wish they would leave the front sling mount on the barrel.

The one that's pinned to the bottom of the FSB is totally useless and gets in the way.

From the photo at the Colt site, it looks like the side mount sling swivel is unchanged

Thats good. Who really uses the carry handle? Or those 20 round mags for that matter.

Send your 20 round mags to me, and I'll give them a good home.
The carry handle too.

That's it. That settles it for me. I'm getting a Windham MPC.

Oh, wait. You can't really find any of these rifles in stores right now anyway (or ammo to shoot them with), so it doesn't really matter.

I will, if you want to send me an equal amount of 30 round Pmags!! I'll also send you a carry handle for a rear folding sight!!

So, I guess you have answered your own question...you use 20 round magazines and the carry handle.

Colt can call it a 6920, but as far as I'm concerned it's not. The 6920 is a classic, carry handle and all. This new model is more like a 6918.5.

I would prefer the carry handle over the magpul sights, though I can see ditching the cleaning kit and sling. I also use 20rd mags most of the time; Pmags are fine but a Colt 30rd aluminum would be nice.

I prefer carry handles

Black Rifle Forum

Even to the point I mounted a new Trijicon Tri Power on one rather than on the flattop.

The sling is no big lose but the carry handle for the Magpul BUIS is a loss IMO.

Me, too. I wonder, will Colt still sell them as an accessory?

Not sure

I have a equal number of 20 round mags as I do 30 rd mags. I am fine with either but prefer the balance of the 20 round mags.

All that is fine and dandy, but the fact is finding a new 2013 model is like discovering a unicorn

Holy chin weld Batman.

I'd take the flip-up over the carry handle any day. The majority will end up w/ some sort of optic. I could care less about the cleaning kit. Who doesn't already have a much better one? I'd like to see them get rid of the 203 cut barrel and reposition the gas port to the midlength position. Maybe call it the 6921
