Things to do near morganton nc range?

Kind of off topic but wasn't sure what forum to post in so sorry if this is the wrong one.

Ill be shooting morganton but we just found out my wife is pregnant so she will not, does anyone know of any good places she can kill some time after she drops me off that are near the range? Scenic parks, antique shops, local attractions or historic things to go look at? Thanks in advance!

There is a really awesome hiking trail with huge waterfalls at Linville Falls, not far away. But I'm not sure if that's something for a pregnant gal to try. http://www.ncwaterfalls.com/lin1.htm

Which is also where you can visit Linville Caverns if you're into exploring caves. http://www.linvillecaverns.com/

My family really enjoyed http://www.gemmountain.com/. It's one of those where you buy a bucket of rocks from the mine and sift through them in a water trough. Even if you don't find anything, it's fun and they have a jewelry store onsite that both the wife and daughter bought something from.

Last but not least, you're not far from Asheville which has tons of historic stuff and antique stuff. That's where the wife and daughter spent most of their time while I shot.

Minor League Baseball

For any that like some good minor league baseball, the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers affiliate) vs Charleston River Dawgs (NY Yankees affiliate) play April 18-21.

Awesome, thanks guys she's probally gonna check out Asheville, she likes the sounds of it! I will take her to gem mountain, that way if I don't win a glock at least maybe I can find a sapphire or something worth millions ;-)

If Asheville is on your list then check out Biltmore Estate. It's a full day if you do it right. Also, in town, is a collection of wonderful restaurants.

Last time I was there wife drove down from Ohio and I drove up from Alabama to meet her and spend a few days. I'm sure there's some great stuff in the area but we never found it. Think we went out ot eat and to a mall, then went our seperate ways for a few more months.

My wife likes to stay in Cherokee at (or near) Harrahs Casino. They have added a showroom and have some big stars.
It is 100 miles west of Morganton but a nice drive.

The last time I was there, trout season opened on the reservation on Saturday of the shoot.
All the tourist shops in Cherokee will keep her busy for several days.

Dollywood/Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is about 50 beautiful miles through the mountains. from Cherokee.

Next winter, all you will hear is, "When is the next Morganton shoot?"

Sounds like a match made in heaven... and gives you more time to take care of Bama's CRV and lawn.

Biltmore is on our list for Friday she said we weren't allowed to go on the trip without that! I didn't realize Cherokee was so close, I haven't been there in ten or fifteen years I'm hoping its just as nice. I'm pretty sure next year will be easy, she's ready to shoot as well but has to take a 9 month break, which I must say works cause it's more ammo for me in this shortage ;-) plus next year my two step kids will be able to handle the glocks, they are smoking competitions with their .22's now so watch out GSSF!
