It's cool... I actually don't kill any animal without a worthy reason. Some of the reasons are harder to understand than others. I'm quick to forget that a lot of places don't see the prededation that my area has. Coyotes, bobcats, foxes and lions all kill game animals or eat turkey eggs or ruin fruit orchards wreaking havoc on the game populations. Which would just be the circle of life except that I feed my family largely on game animal meat and fish that I catch. I shouldn't have responded the way I did because it seems now like it was just an honest question.

My son shot one last year on his deer hunting lease and skinned it for the pelt;
He left it out in his back yard to dry and a critter (dog?) came by and took it off-it disappeared.
Really hacked him off.
They are somewhat rare where we hunt and he really wanted to keep the skin.
Win some , lose some.

*There could come a day.... where we... are `not on top` of the food chain anymore.
Hunted for just trying to survive....hunted for not being as smart or advanced and considered stupid....dont laugh...it can happen.....

The 10 Ring
Ya its a Movie....but one should get the point.

`Poor cat...killed for being a cat and doing what it does naturally...hunting to survive...and in this case *was not stalking a human....Now it`s an internet bragging trophy ....and how badd-*****$$ one might feel with their weapon.
`To each their own....I hunt critters for food when need be....or for Defence.

Carry on....just said my piece.

We are covered in them but only see them regularly this time of year. I just spoke to the owner of the land and was told that there are so many predators that she regularly hears them eating fawns.

What?!?!

I'm glad you feel superior to me since you only hunt what I am trying to protect... From all the guys that hunt predators so you can hunt for food--you're welcome!

ETA: Also, your link is broken.

I shoot pigs, bobcats and coyotes on sight if they are on my land. I guess these "too good" to shoot a predator don't kill poisonous snakes or swat mosquitoes either. Good shoot man, I bet the only thing these naysayers have ever shot with their pistol are paper zombies and plastic bottles.

Impossible, a 10mm would have deboned, skinned and tanned that thing. No exit wound, pffttt

Ah, understood. My bad.
I have no issues with it whatsoever.

Good job on the KITTY. That will make a nice pelt, and to kill it with a handgun
is nothing short of awesome. Congrats

I personally wouldn't have shot it myself. I've passed on all of them except the first one I ever saw. I shot it with a longbow. I don't have a problem with the hunt. Neat!

It depends on the wishes of the landowner and what they are trying to protect. I personally think the bobcat is one of most beautiful animals on the planet. Some land owners would actually be upset if I didn't shoot it.

They sure are pretty. I last saw one this year while deer hunting. Sometimes they would need to be shot, as in your situation. There never is a right answer all of the time for things like that. Coyotes however, there is only one answer!

There's more than one way to skin a cat, but they're all fun.
I love cats, they taste just like chicken. So many cats, so few recipes.

Good job getting a Bobcat with your 10mm. We need to create another forum for the PETA gals to hangout so they wouldn't be offended.
