A buddy at work is in the market for a patrol rifle like this (he doesn't dig the issued rifle). What's the simple difference again bretwwen the 6720 and 6920? Staring at Colt's site it wasn't terribly clear to me.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I'll let him know.

One of the big differences is that one has the traditional carrying handle(removable) and the other is a flat top.

The only real difference I know between the 6720 and 6920 is the barrel profile. The 6720 has a pencil barrel while the 6920 has a government profile. The carry handle is removable on both and some come with a flip up sight installed in place of the carry handle. $1025 is in line with the pre panic pricing so I would say buy if you are in the market.

The 6720 is the better option for line officers. Price is on par with pre-craziness.

The 6720 has the removable carry handle. My 6720 did not come with that, and came with back up irons.

Both are solid but the 6720 is slightly lighter and much better balanced due to the pencil barrel.

That's actually less than I paid, pre-madness. If I had the cash, I'd be all over that!

Just my $.02 but DSG was great to deal with when I got my 6720. Mine came as a flat top with a MaTech flip up. Anyone wanna buy a MaTech flip up?

The balance of the pencil bbl was the deciding factor for me in getting the 6720, no carry handle though. Got to love the 1:7 ratio, though.

I would also sell the MaTech BUIS, even though the .mil plans to go with them. They dial-in a range between 200 -800 yards, some say it makes a difference.

They're the current standard issue rear sight for M4 carbines, at least every one I've seen. They're a POS, and tend to have the range setting try to dial itself when it gets caught on your gear. I'd replace it with a Troy folding rear or DD or LMT fixed rear, personally.
