Booonnnnngggg!

Don't you just love that ring?

I took a long range shooting class a few weeks back and found out it is possible to regularly Ring-the-Steel out to 1000 yards with my deer rifle.

There were guys there hitting at 1 mile but like you they were shooting the 338 La-Pow-a.

Just wondering but what is over that hill? Doesn't seem like a very safe back drop...

Good shooting none the less.

Thanks, if your talking about that mountain in the background it is 4 miles away from the target and no neighbors around for at least 5 miles. I guess it's a deceiving picture.

Let this video stand as evidence against all those people that claim you need a $10,000 rifle to make accurate hits on a target at long range.

Don't get me wrong. I own several rather expensive rifles. The are nice and will certainly allow a good shooter to be more consistent. However, price alone won't buy accuracy if the shooter can't deliver the goods. Optics and ammo come into play but in the end, it comes down to how skilled the shooter is.

As long as the shooter has a solid quality platform to start with (i.e.- Good rifle, optics, and ammo) the rest comes down to the capability of the shooter.

That being said:

Savage makes one hell of a rifle that can keep up with the bid dogs all day long. This video drives home the point of why I recommend Savage as my first choice to anyone that wants a great rifle at a price that won't break the bank. The Savage rifles certainly are capable and I can personally vouch for their accuracy.

Savage rifles are some of the most accurate out of the box guns I've ever owned and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. They are a far cry from what they were many years ago. They make a hell of good product!

Great video and nice shooting!

Thanks, the got the target from a steel scrap yard for about $18. The guy that was torching things in half was cool enough to cut the target out for me from a huge 5/8" piece of steel, I marked it 18" x 24" with a 6" head. This is pretty much a full size IPSC target. The thing weighs in at around 80lbs.
