Gen 4 9mm and Federal Champion 115's

Just curious if there are any Gen 4 9mm owners that shoot Federal Champion 115's without any issues at all.

Until recently, that was 100% of my 19's diet.

No problems. Ejection wasn't that enthusiastic, but it wasn't spitting brass in my face or anything.

Other than SD loads, the Federal 115gr has been the only FMJ ammo I've ran through my Gen 4 G17. Shoots great and brass is ejected up and away at 4-5 o'clock.

No issues using federal 115gr in any of my Glocks. Before all the craziness I use to go to wal mart and buy a 1000rds of it for my weekend courses for like $200.

I have used some of it with no problems in several different pistols, including some third generation Glocks that are a few years old, but no Gen4 guns.

Other than the Speer Lawman 115 & 124 gr, this is what I use and never had problems

There have been more ejection issues with this very weak ammunition than with any other 9mm ammunition on Gen 4 Glocks. It is well documented on GT.
I prefer to use quality ammunition such as American Eagle, Lawman or NATO all 124gr.

It's the weakest ammo on the market, period. I reload, and ran some of this across a chrono along with some WWB 115gr FMJ. The FC stuff ran around 1085fps if I recall correctly, whereas the WWB was closer to 1130fps. (That's 125ish PF compared to 130ish PF (PF is the calculation used in shooting sports like IDPA/USPSA). That was in 2010, doubt if they changed their recipe though.

With the Gen3's and the single recoil spring, it was pretty reliable.
With the Gen4 dual recoil spring, there were many reports of issues with it.

If it works in your gun, great.... run it. If you have problems, trying something a little hotter.

I've experienced the same thing.

Thanks gang. I've got a boat load of Federal Champion and it runs great in my Gen 3's. Day dreaming about what to get with my next GSSF certificate. Still not sure I'm ready for a Gen 4, but I might take the plunge.

If you get a new Gen4 9mm, break it in with about 200 rounds of Winchester 124-gr NATO Spec ammo, or 124-gr S&B. That will break in the RSA and anything after that, even substandard Federal Champion 115-gr will function 100%.

Federal Champion 115-gr has a published test velocity of 1,125fps, whereas Winchester USA's published velocity is 1,190fps--quite a difference.

I've never had any issues with Federal Champion. I've also never broken in any of my Glocks with hot ammo or left the slide racked.

I've shot about 400 rounds of the stuff through my new Glock 19 Gen 4 and have had no BTF and only one FTE. It works well for me.

I use them in the monthly USPSA matches I shoot in and I also shot them at the GSSF match without any problems.

Now that I have a lot of this round from spending hours at WalMart, I thought it might be a good idea to really focus on how this round shoots in my Gen 3 19.

I ran 50 rounds through her yesterday. Shoots fantastic at 25 feet. Very consistent, no back to face, and I had no problem keeping a 3" group with very fast followup shots.

At $21.37 per 100, this has been money and time well spent.

Works fine in mine but the Speer Blazer Brass 115 is more accurate at the same price.

A lot, never a problem. Gen 4 g17,19,26, all perfect except for me of course.
