Does anybody carry Buffalo Bore 380 +P ammo?

anybody carry Buffalo Bore 380 +P ammo in your Ruger LCP of Kel Tec 380 and how do you like it? Is it hard on these little guns? Ruger states twice in their LCP man NO plus P ammo..

I use the +P lead load

In my Kahr P380. It shoots with a whopping 230 foot pounds out of that little bomb. I think I remember it going at 1030 fet per second AT target. I was shooting about 5 yards away through my chorograph. It does put out some smoke. Like a "special effect" but not enough to obstruct your vision. Its accurate out of my pistol but any .380 isn't going to be a match gun. However the Hornady Critical Defense is VERY accurate out of my little Kahr.
The BB load is just hard to beat. You get 7 rounds of 100 gr lead going at 1030 FPS out of a tiny pistol that you can carry so easily anywhere. Penetration won't be a issue with that setup. So far no hiccups with my Kahr.

Set up a Colt Mustang. Extra heavy recoil spring and steel guide rod. Extra power fireing pin spring. Sent it out to Novak for hi-viz sights. Thing shoots pretty dang good. Snappy recoil.
No issues.

I tried 3 flavors of BB ammo in my Bersa Thunder. I tried the 90gr JHP +P, a 95gr JHP +P and a 100 gr Hard Cast RN lead bullet +P.

From a chart I saw, the HP versions gave a 12-13" penetration and the HC lead did 24" (!!!). They all slammed the little gun around sumptin' FIERCE but Bersa said +P ammo is OK, just not too much.

With that effect on the gun and at those prices ($25 for 20) I don't think a steady diet will be in my gun's future. I don't really use the 380 for CC, but more for a quickie when I want something rather than nothing and feel the small gun will be OK.

IIRC you are NOT to use Buffalo Bore +P in an LCP. Can't recall where I saw this, but I took it to heart as an LCP owner as well.

I've heard... I've put a magazine of it through my LCP at the range for function, and that's all I really plan to run... Unless I need it.

I don't see a box worth of the stuff doing any damage to my gun.

The Ruger Owners Manual states not to use +P ammo period. Here's the link, page 12. It's stated twice in two paragraphs in Red so must be pretty important...

An armourer friend showed me an LCP that some moron had shot a box of Buffalo Bore through and the rails looked like someone had hit them with a 20 lbs. maul. He told the guy to send it back to Ruger. Never heard the rest.

Interestingly, Buffalo Bore has this on their website for their .380+p ammo:

I missed it as well, but saw a sign at Cabelas a few years back hence my research on their website.

***From Buffalo Bore's website, concerning their +p ammo through LCPs***

Quote:
1. Can I shoot your +P 380 Auto ammo in my LCP?

Yes you can. Gun makers often warn against using any ammo that is not SAAMI spec. and there is no SAAMI spec. for the 380 auto +P cartridge. Gun makers do this to protect themselves from any liability in our super litigious American society.

Buffalo Bore and others have tested our 380 auto +P ammo in the LCP and many LCP owners currently shoot our +P ammo in their LCPs and we've never heard of any problems from the "power" or "pressure" of the ammo, but obviously the use of +P ammo in these little guns should be limited to just enough to test reliable feeding and point of impact, then carry the ammo in your LCP in the event you need it, but don't go plinking with it.

If you don't mind me asking, which BB load did you eventually settle on or did you go with something else entirely different?

If Buffalo Bore will guarantee it won't hurt my LCP, I'll use it.

Not that I don't trust this ammo or that it's good, but Ruger says no.

I understand your concerns.

But trust me, a magazine (or 2 or 3) of it for function is not going to damage your LCP.

Write that warranty for me and I'll be happy!
