Well as far as a rifle I have a Remington 700 vtr. I use it just for deer hunting and my shots are 200 yds or less. With that in mind I use Fusion ammo.

Ok thanks, I'm just getting back into bolt actions (haven't used one since boy scouts lol) and picking up a Ruger American this week. I have some Magtech ordered to try out, think it was 150gr.

I went a different direction this time. I bought a FNAR. First auto hunting rifle I have owned. Used to fill my cull doe tags last year. 3 shot, 300+ yds, 3 does

I had always had the impression that semi auto hunting rifles were 3 or 4 inch spray and pray grouping rifles. I can tell you the FNAR hold 100yd groups to 3/4" outside to outside.

Here is the FNAR in with the EOTech. I use it for pig hunting at night (legal in Texas). Tumps the pigs right over

Bolt-actions.
Savage 10FP for target, using Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr.

Remington model 7 for hunting, wife use Remington reduced recoil 125gr. Winchester power point 150gr is fine for me.

FN SPR A3G

Savage Model 10 FCP HS

Blueprinted Remington 700 Police

M1A

Ammo ranges from 168 to 178 grains in the bolt guns and 147 to 168 in the M1A. Most are handloads.

I prefer a good auto over a bolt for 308. My current rifle is a POF 308

And with the aimpoint. It also serves very good for cqb distance.

IMO, owning a centerfire rifle & not handloading for it is almost wasting your time, certainly your money. Few factory loads can beat good handloads for accuracy as every rifle has a preference. I used to have a M700 VSS, rebarreled it to 260AI, sold a FAL way back when & a G91, so only an M1 left in 308.

Since this is "caliber corner" I'll assume that you meant type of round as opposed to type of rifle. I generally shoot plain-jane 150gr soft point since that is my go to deer round. I have several other loadings in my stash of .308 that I do want to give a whirl: 168gr bthp, and some vintage 173gr national match.

One day I'll get into reloading, I promise...

This is the one. Nothing groups tighter among the factory loadings.
