don't delay the individual mandate

Delaying the individual mandate amounts to a golden get-re-elected-free card to the democrat party. The Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot, as usual.

Guess who are the ones getting signed up for Obamacare? The ones furiously clicking to get through at healthcare.gov night and day for weeks on end. Can you say "pre-existing conditions?"

Guess who is not getting signed up for Obamacare, and will in fact say "F-it" when the system won't let them in? The 22-year old who is healthy-as-a-horse and would probably rather pay the $95 fee anyway, when they think about it.

Guess which ones are absolutely necessary to keep the O'care system from melting down, and which ones will drive prices through the roof?

More details here:

i understand wanting to expose obamacare as a huge ass failure by letting it go forward but once that happens it will not ever go away unless there is complete and total collapse of the system. The democrats will prop it up with whatever means necessary. If we can delay to fight another day so be it, though my hopes something will happen are dwindling.

Listen to Chronos on this one, folks.

Unfortunately, your "leaders" like 'H1B Cruz' would rather fight for a delay and have that on their term-two resume.

It really doesn't matter. Whether it fails now or later, it is Socialist meddling in the free market and is doomed to fail. The problem is that, even when it does fail, the Natsos will claim the need for greater spending and greater government control over the entire healthcare system. Can anyone say "single payer"?

Educate me here. So if crashes and burns because of financial non-sustainability due to only the sick signing up, doesn't that just cause the private insurance to go out of business and we default to single payer? Are you just wanting to get on with it so the penalty tax goes up sooner and costs everyone more (and thus angers them more)? I can sort of see the point but I figure they'd rather just initially increase the subsidy and then change to single payer (the point all along).

I think there is something to not allowing a new entitlement to become entrenched. The important part is somehow convincing the gimmees to vote in those who would do that. I guess the penalties and high costs might help somewhat but I think they'll just push for more free money.

No, we don't default to single payer. That is a completely different battle, and frankly it isn't going to happen. As badly as this was handled, I see no desire 'en masse' from our population to take it up a notch and go with single payer, which causes far more problems than it fixes.

This is a self correcting problem. I still think the majority of our population is hopelessly stupid, but I also am cautiously optimistic that some low information people are finally starting to wake up.

We'll see what happens...

Now up at Drudge:
Report: Senate Dems Up for Re-Election in 2014 to Back Delay of Obamacare Enrollment Deadline

Quote:
On Wednesday, CNN’s Dana Bash tweeted that all Senate Democrats up for re-election in 2014 will reportedly support a delay of Obamacare’s enrollment deadline.
.
.
.
Many Republicans, including the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), have been predicting for months that the Democrats would look for an Obamacare “escape hatch” ahead of 2014.
Does that sound like a delay is better or worse for the socialist agenda next term?

Obamacare is D.O.A. !
Their is no way to fund Obamacare.
75% of people already have healthcare.
They won't jump ship into Obamacare.
The other 25% can't afford to pay for Obamacare.
So Obamacare is
Dead On Arrival !
If Obama raises everyone's taxes thru the roof to pay for it.
The economy & Obamacare both implode.
D.O.A. !

Why won't it? If the private insurance companies are mandated to accept all comers and the healthy don't sign up and decide to pay the penalty instead (assuming that's enforced), won't they go out of business? Wouldn't the government stepping in and "saving the day" with Medicare (or whatever) for all be the logical following step?

Believe me, I don't want single payer (well, I'd go for private pay but that's a different argument). I just see this heading down the single payer road. What's the logic that says it won't? Do I ascribe too much evil and deceit to those planning this?

What is Obamacare? Is it not a changing of the rules? People aren't selecting Obamacare--it's changed the rules of insurance. They're being forced into following the rules--changes in coverage, cost, etc. What's your insurance company going to do when it's inundated with the sick "uninsurables" who sign up for relatively cheap insurance (for them) with your company and the healthy younger people decide to say "screw it" and maybe pay a penalty (if enforced) and only sign up if they get sick (as there are no more preexisting conditions)?

Answer: they raise your rates to pay for it or they go out of business.

People aren't selecting Obamacare. It just is. It's getting way entrenched now as well.

I hope you did not misunderstand my use of that quote to mean that I agree with that abomination..

Notice my sig-line..
June 28, 2012 is the day the supreme court betrayed the American republic by vetting O'care.

There will certainly be a push for single payer. However, it took a democrat president, house, and senate to get Obamacare to squeak by, and the resistance is far stronger now. Also, there is the little fact that government simply can't afford a single payer system, at this point -- there is going to be a major financial crisis about the time Obamacare starts imploding. Interest rates and the debt pile are going to force government to make serious priority choices if they want to survive.

And one last point -- I find Obamacare to be at least as offensive as single payer to begin with. It was a "worst of all worlds" government frankenstein creation.

No, the private insurance industry is "too big to fail". There's no way that that many captains of industry with that much money will allow the gov to cut them out. Obamacare passed because it promised to force more business to the private insurers, not less. If it doesn't work out that way, it's toast. The insurers will probably even be compensated for their losses.

DemocraCare will quickly become single payer it can’t fail financially because we’ll just print enough “money” to float it.

Insurance and pharmaceutical companies were lied to and strong armed into going along.

I wonder why all your medical and personal information is being sent to Homeland Security?

That's exactly what i've been thinking. It's the worst of both worlds. The worst possible system.
