So this is a problem why? He has, and pays for his own insurance through his wife. At no cost to the tax payer. I'm on my wife's insurance. Does that make me bad?

Please explain...

I was on my wife's insurance, but guess what? They won't cover me anymore due to 0care. Not how I remember it being pitched.

Yep. They bankrolled Romney as well. They'll bankroll the next two candidates as well. And people still can't see the elephant in the room.

Shouldn't you be at Julian and Kathy's ACA rally about now? You do know your favorite director of HHS is in town today, don't you?

So you don't think any of this influences Ted's voting? It had nothing to do with the shutdown? "None are so blind as those who will not see." The thing about really good propaganda is that people don'e see it as propaganda. They think it is their own idea.

The irony of you making that statement is palpable.

News Flash: Cruz is a Senator. The news media keeps telling all of us that it was the mean ole Republicans in the House that shut down the government.

So who his wife works for has no influence on the positions he takes?

That's a different question from the one you asked above. You can change the argument and move the goal posts if you would like so you can hate on Mr. Cruz. That however does not change the facts and that you are wrong to imply it had anything to do with the shutdown.

I work for the largest health insurance provider-the concept everyone here seems to be missing is Coordination of Benefits.

I don't know how Congressional/Senate medical coverage is handled but.

If his insurance is "free" and he is additionally on his wife's...news flash most employers are pushing for this as a means of minimizing risk.

If his wife's insurance is "free" and/or he is paying for his out of pocket...awesome.

The question is if his wife is on his insurance; I'm guessing most congressional plans offer family coverage and she is.

Google COB. Some ASO groups are looking in 2015 to forcing people on to take a spouse's insurance if its available-this way it creates a primary/secondary payer relationship and saves the ASO group money.

If he has a catastrophic claim his private insurance should pick up part of the tab...which saves taxpayers money. This is a good thing.

They're eligible for a fantastic plan funded by taxpayers but stay on the wife's company policy instead, even though dropping her plan might mean a corresponding wage increase for her, and somehow this taints his push to reduce government spending?

Okay...
Quote:
Coordination of Benefits (COB)

Coordination of benefits applies to members of your group who are covered by more than one health care plan. Coordination of benefits helps ensure that members covered by more than one plan will receive the benefits they are entitled to while avoiding overpayment by either plan. Coordinating benefits is one of the ways we work to keep premiums at a minimum.

How COB Works
When a member of your group is covered by more than one health plan (for example, when one of your employees is covered under your group plan as well as a spouse’s health plan), one plan is considered to be the primary carrier and the other is considered to be the secondary carrier. The primary carrier covers the major portion of the bill according to plan allowances, and the secondary carrier covers any remaining allowable expenses.

The COB provisions of your policy or plan determine which plan is primary. That plan’s benefits are applied to the claim first. The unpaid balance is usually paid by the secondary plan to the limit of its responsibility. Benefits are thus "coordinated" among all of the health plans, and payments do not exceed 100% of charges for the covered services.
