Ruger SR22 Pistol

Quick review...

Picked a used one up yesterday after shooting a friends a few times.

Overall impression is that it is a nice little pistol. It is fun to shoot, fairly accurate and fairly reliable. It is pretty comfortable in the hand and comes with a couple replaceable rubber grips. Sights are pretty decent and the long double action trigger pull isn't too bad. This is a double action auto which will shoot single action. It has a thumb safety which is also a hammer drop.

They typically come with two mags with flat and extended mag plates that are switchable. Mine had an extra mag with it as a bonus.

Negative is that darn magazine disconnect safety. I have that on my LC9 and as a result I think this SR22 is the last Ruger semi auto pistol I am going to buy. It is really, really irritating not to be able to dry fire without a magazine in place.

Besides plinking, this one is intended to teach pistol shooting to my younger nieces, nephews and my grandkids. It is close enough to the style and function of a centerfire pistol to be of some use.

I had a cheap Uncle Mikes holster that it fits and the two extra mags actually fit in the front pocket.

Fun pistol to plink with. I probably have almost 1k rounds through mine with no issues. I'm sure they will enjoy it.

Is this what you're referring to:

I was trying to be helpful to a new SR22 owner, not promote a website. As a matter of fact, GT is where I first learned of the website mentioned. Anyway, thanks for the heads up; website deleted.

Great looking pistol, I don't know why all the major brands waited for so long to make full size quality 22LR pistol. I was hesitating on buying one of those a few weeks ago and I bought instead a SIG P226 in 22LR, the reason being that you can upgrade it to a 9mm or 40S&W caliber by just buying the conversion kit, so it is a bit more versatile than the Ruger or the S&W which are dedicated 22LR. I'm pretty sure they all shoot the same and are about equal quality, anybody got any experience with the M&P or P226 compared to the Ruger?

I've had a bunch of 22 pistols over the years including a Ruger MkII. Kind of looking for something similar to a standard double action pistol to emulate a center fire pistol. I do also have an Erma/Excam which is basically a copy of a PPKs in 22. Fun little pistol to shoot but not very accurate or of very good quality.

I actually looked at a Walter P22 and liked it better than the SR22. I found a used SR22 cheaper so went with it.

I actually own both and much prefer the Ruger over the Umarex junk that is the "Walther" P22.

I guess the only thing I liked better about the P22 was how it felt in my hand. I am happy with the Ruger, it was less expensive and I like Ruger.

Do they come in pink yet? I'll have to buy two. My wife wants a pink digital camo P22. I much prefer the SR22 from what I here. My P22 is better than most but not what the SR22 appears to be.

I have seen them in purple....
I almost bought the Ruger...Until I shot one. The hammer was hitting my hand. It's a bit too small for me.
I decided to buy the full size M&P 22 instead. Pick it up on Friday.

Not quite. I'd like to have a S&W Model 41 and a 617 revolver to add to my .22LR collection.

I did recently add a Browning BL-22 which is SA-WEEEET!
