A good couple of days!

Last week I went to the local gun shop with my dad and was checking out some suppressors- decided this week that I needed one. Friday on the way in to work I stopped by Gander on my weekly quest to add more .22 LR, they had none but suggested that I try the new Bass Pro Shops. BPS was not far away and I found myself on the first day of their official grand opening. I picked up a 325 round Federal 'fresh pack', that was the limit per day. I went back during lunch to find no parking spots in the whole lot but I scored another 100 rounds.
On the way home from work I stopped at the local gun shop to see what I needed to start the suppressor paperwork, and they had a fresh delivery of CCI MiniMags, I picked up another few hundred rounds.
I had a hard time sleeping Friday night- could not wait to get to the shop! I went in and began the paperwork for an SWR Warlock II suppressor- it seemed to be a little better performer than the Gemco Outback II. The shop is claiming 90 day turnaround from the ATF via electronic filing, we'll see.
The suppressor needs a home so I also picked up a Ruger 22/45 Lite that seems like a pretty slick gun. They asked if I needed anything else and I said "How about throw in a couple of boxes of 22 for it" to which I got a "Sure thing!" and left with some more ammo.
The local gunsmith is in the shop next door and I figured it was time to meet him. On the shelf he had a nice selection of Meprolight Tru Glo nite sites and was kind enough to install a set on my G33 on the spot.
It's been a year since I bought a firearm, feels good to put some more boxes in the ammo cage and another firearm in the safe!

Congrats! It is honestly so sad that we have to get excited over finding .22LR these days. I remember when bricks of it would just sit on the shelves years ago when I sold guns at a sporting goods store.

Gun show this weekend had tables full of .22lr at silly prices and no one was buying it.

I take that as a good sign.

posted from my stupid smart phone, please excuse any spelling mistakes.

Thanks y'all! lately finding the lowly .22LR has become a task- I'm going in to work early tomorrow so I can stop at Gander for a fresh delivery....

I suspect most of the bulk .22lr ammo purchases are by AR owners with .22lr conversion uppers. That makes it difficult for dedicated .22lr owners to find it, unless we're lucky enough to show up at Wal-Mart at just the right time.
