Video editing in Ubuntu.
I am video editing impaired. I've attempted to use some of the free/shareware Windows programs available with no success.
I need what I believe is a very basic program that will allow me to cut and splice and that's about it. It needs to be at least somewhat intuitive. I have not managed to accomplish any of my goals with other software to date. I'm either missing something entirely or I'm simply incapable and it's starting to get frustrating.
I'm using a GoPro Hero as my primary camera and it uses MP4 as it's basic recording format.
Any suggestions?

I too was, at one time, quite video editing challanged. But I got a copy of Corel Video Studio and locked myself in my study for a few day and studied how do do it. I made some pretty good notes too. If you get Corel Video Studio, I would be glad to send you a copy of my notes. My notes were ment for me to be able to refer to them later on after having forgoten it all. I am FAR from good at it. But I am finaly able to make a basic video. Here is my Youtube channel if you care to see what I have learned to do: http://www.youtube.com/user/ThatsOne...e=results_main
Let me know if you would like a copy of my notes.

Did a Google search for "Opensource video editor" and got:
VideoLAN Movie Creator
That was the first one I found... there may be more.
I recall playing with Blender at one point, but it was more about animation. I didn't get to far with it in other words...
Good Luck!
I have used CamStudio or Windows Movie Maker with great results on Windows systems if that is an option to you.
All of these packages are OpenSource for Free.

I like Kino but check out this link and try a few till you find one you like.
I would say Open is one of the more basic tools or OpenMovieEditor.

Remember, huge numbers of movies are created, edited and compiled on Linux systems.

I suppose I'm going to give Kino a try this afternoon. Thanks for the responses.
