OOPS! Think I'll stick to deer & turkey. They don't tend to come after you if you miss or make a bad shot ;g ;a

Looks to me like a 12 gauge pump loaded with 00 buck would have been appropriate. The trick here is to drop to one knee and shoot straight at the animal rather than stand and shoot over it as it runs toward you. Of course no one wants to get down to the same level as a lion.

I counted nine shots. Leasons learned:

Bring a double rifle. No bolt to work. You might short stroke it and rechamber an empty case. If you can afford to go on a lion hunt you can afford to buy a double rifle.

Plan on shooting more than once. As soon as you hit him, hit him again. Everytime he gets up, hit em again.

Watch the crossfire.

Bring lots of ammo.

You said it. Seems like an awefully good way to get shot in the heat of the moment! At first I thought the guy on the far right had taken a bullet but I think he was only dodging out of the way as the lion ran back through. Jeez, that was intense. I have to give it to those two up front, they stayed their ground and kept firing until the last second. Impending death can be a great motivator!

Lesson learned? Someone in the group should have been carrying a shotgun. The funny thing about wild animals is that they don't often know they are supposed to stay in high powered rifle range.

lesson learned, HIT you target, if you watch closely, you can see they miss quite a few times, lions are not hard to kill, you just have to hit them hard and in the boiler room
