As we all know, the Glock 17 has 33 parts (although some are small parts-assemblies, but let's not quibble.)

Does anybody know if there is any semiauto that has fewer parts (let's limit this to reasonably reputable production guns, not the WWII Liberator .45 single-shot or zip guns or that sort of thing)?

It sure looks pretty empty inside a Glock 17. Can there be an "emptier" gun? The Beretta 92fs has, as far as I know, 74 parts - more than twice as many as a Glock 17. How low can the number of parts go?

Yes, the grip assembly alone has 10 parts (4x grip screws, 4x grip washers, 2x grip panels). A good tradeoff for allowing a myriad of grip changes from plastic to rubber to wood and even carbon fiber.;f

Beretta's high number of parts does not, by collective experience of the folks at Berettaforum, equal the amount of potential problems of the gun. Even the much maligned locking block lasts an average of 30,000 rounds before it needs replacement.

Guess ko lang, but I think the Taurus PT145 and the Kel-tec P11 have less parts than a Glock.

Pare-pareho lang namang striker fired yang tatlo, so basic mechanical components are just about the same.

Hence one of the reasons why we buy Glocks is that
it is reliable by design.

A system with less moving parts is inherently more
reliable.

That's an engineering principle, you know.

Taurus PT111 - 53
Taurus PT92 - 68
CZ 75 - +/-64 depending on the version
HS2K-SA-XD - 47
HK usp 9/.40 - 52
HK usp 45 - 45

And you guys are right Glock is the only pistol with few parts that works.

In any case, I sold my Glock 17. Nothing wrong with it - it works as advertised - quite reliable. Just too light a gun for my arthritis. A 40 ounce S&W 686+ ( which is twice as heavy as the Glock) has been more appropriate. But, hey, for a soldier or policeman who has to carry a sidearm around all day, a Glock would be OK.

sorry did not read it properly. anyway my knife has fewer parts ;f
