cci350 from cci300

So I have a bunch of cci350. I have always been loading with the 300. What kind of difference have you all seen with longshot and 800x? Just looking for a base line to drop my load to, to work up again.

I wouldn't recommend 350s for 800-x. Longshot should be fine. The usual prudence applies. Reduce and work up.

I agree with Taterhead. 800-x is to fast burning for mag primers. For Longshot I would say to reduce by at lease 15% and check for signs of excess pressure. I would also start with a lighter crimp and increase when you feel pressure is ok. Ralph

Agreed, as above. No for the 800X, but LS is fine. It's essentially uneventful in most respects, and a reduction of more than 5% isn't necessary, for any load. The loads I've done are reduced by only 2-3% for the same velocity, and no change in pressure signs. No real surprise, but magnum primers are very friendly with Unique. Magnum primers have been easier to get than standards, and I've been using them for several rounds for some time now. I'm using my remaining SP primers for the smaller charge loads, such as .380 and .38Spl, but magnums have been working well with 9mm and above. An added bonus is slightly less powder used per round, so hopefully it'll help to stretch the powder supply.

My stash is running thin, too. With no immediate hope of resupply, we'll do what we have to do. We are seeing a little restock, but it's unpredictable. Primers seem to be the biggest hit.

I've used CCI 350s with 800X, AA #7, AA #9 with no signs of over pressure and some of the 800X loads were hot, not nuclear. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think they're "that" big of a difference as long as you're not loading on the edge.
