Hello BOGS!

i'm just curious to know... what glock spare/replacement parts would you keep on hand (e.g. recoil springs, firing pin safety spring, etc...)?

i know from what i've read that glocks are made to "survive" just about anything you can ever imagine, but wouldn't it be prudent for glock owners to keep certain parts just in case something breaks? we all keep spare tires don't we.

i was at mcs recently and i noticed that final option has an extensive selection of glock parts...i just hope they're original.

a couple of striker springs from glock and (reduced)wolff i guess, the first thing that was broken on my glock was the recoil assembly, replaced it with one from final option them bought a set from wolff springs (metal rod and all). i just dont trust the glock factory rod, might break when u need it the most.

This is a good thread.

On my most used Glock (Glock 17), the following have been

1) Extractor (because it was chipped)

2) The trigger bar assembly, because it became
a bit wobbly.

Here are the upgrades I made -

1) KKM precision conventional rifled barrel so that I can
reload spent cases (no case bulge) and I can shoot lead
to my heart's content

2) Sprinco recoil reducer assembly

3) Reduced power Wolff striker spring

4) Titanium nitride plunger << works great

5) 3.5# connector

Because the above are upgrades, my expectation is that
they will last long. This means I don't carry replacements
for upgrade parts.

I carry a replacement for the trigger bar assembly only.

Also, at GSSF matches held every once a year at a
shooting range which is about ten minutes away from my
home (he-he), Glock armorers will clean, inspect and
replace any broken Glock part for absolutely FREE,
irregardless of whether you shoot at the match or not.

We will have another one in August this year.

I think the only thing you should replace on a stock glock are the sights. Get rid of those plastic sights first. I don't stock any spare parts for my Glock, since nothing ever breaks. To be fair i'm not shooting my glock that often anymore.

thank you all for your inputs.

last week, i disassembled the reciever of my g21c coz i wanted to clean the different parts inside it. everything was going fine and then it happened...i removed the firing pin safety plug and the tiny spring (e.g. firing pin safety spring) went ballistic. i spent a good 30 mins looking for the darn thing! eventually, i found it and what a relief it was.

the next day, i went to final option hoping they had them on stock...they did and i bought some spare springs just in case...

by the way, are any of the part in the reciever suppose to be lubricated?

You can try to polish the point where the trigger bar meets the connector. The problem with lubing the internal parts is the tendency to over-lubricate over time. Note that too much lubricant attracts dirt and powder residue so use 'em lubes sparingly.

I know of one BOG who has 2 G17's, and one is used for backup. Unfortunately, both broke their slides. ;f

Seriously, consider getting extra trigger springs. Or better yet "upgrade" to the NY spring. And if you have more than one spring, make sure they're labelled properly.
