and wern't the automobiles(?) of the '80's so .....inspiring......smog laws, crash bumpers, no horsepower, worse milage, cookie-cutter styling...everything looked like a box.
The 80's may well be regarded as the new "Dark Ages" !!

The 85 Mustang. The first Mustang with a roller cam and the last Mustang with no computer controls is a hot rodders dream. I have one in my garage, which, with the addition of some pocket ported World Products heads, Crane cam, Edelbrock manifold, 3.27 gears and a few other tricks is very respectable even in an LS dominted world. 24 mpg out of a stock V8 which can go 140 MPH is still respectable.
As for bell bottoms and polyster, if you were hip, you laughed at that stuff the same way that todays hip people laugh at pants with the crotch at the knees.
No, today or yesterday, being hip is still a very individual thing. The polyester, bell bottom crowd was just following the herd.
In the 80s, I bicycled 200 miles a week and refused to go anywhere that the lombada was danced. Today, I own a time machine.

As for what Chevrolet was doing in the 80s with their valve shrouding 305s, I just can't say.

Heck, I was still very much into revolvers in the 80's...but the 10mm & 1990 change all that! Moved on to the S&W1006 and never looked back!

Yea! Got one of dem, Big ol' S&W Mod. 44Mag w/8 3/8" barrel nickle in one of dem wooden boxes...kill me a deer with it at 180 yards thru his heart.
Amazing how accurate this bad boy is...

Of course I did step on the dark side of things too!

The one .44 Mag I DON'T own is a S&W 29/629. Got a problem, my Ruger/DW/Contender loads tend to tweak the crane !
I WORE OUT my 1st SuperBlackhawk......
"Weakest" .44 I own is my Anaconda 8", but it's got the best trigger, so it gets the nod as my "Bambi Blaster".

addition: In the "Dirty Harry" movie, Eastwood carried a Mod. 57 (41 mag) because the prop dept. couldn't FIND a 29. On film, it's the same gun.

You're right about that Mod. 57 (41 mag) Uncle...but never the less it was the "Dirty Harry" movie that spawned my yerning for the S&W Mod 29...the trigger on mine is very sweet. The Mod 19 6" 357 Combat Magnum's trigger is slightly better than the 29's. Both have provided great service over the years and they are each complimented by a Marlin 1894 44Mag & 357Mag lever rifle.

Sorry about your SuperBlackhawk...The first 50 loads I put thru my S&W 29 were full loads of IMR4227 in used casings...split them all! My bad! But the steel chicken hanging on the chains would wrap up on the pipe support...Started using Blue Dot after that and got great accuracy using less powder!

I can add to this "masquerade" syndrome. I own a Smith model 28, the same frame as the 29, but in .357mag. Students get a kick out of handling a "Dirty Harry"-sized revolver, even if it is a different caliber.

Because of what it's built on, a S&W 27 or 28 is almost a forever revolver ! Easy to shoot & mild in the hand.

Shadow, don't fret my SBH, it went to a chap that only shoots factory Winchester ammo, about 1 or 2 boxes a year & gives me the once fired brass. SINCE 1981 !!
And it's been replaced, a SBH is too good not to have one of !
