Such an unloved caliber, the .41 Mag. I either load my 10MM's on the HOT side, or I "wimp out" my .44 Mag loads.
A .41 is a good choice for those that MUST compromise......
and .41 dies are required to load proper snake loads for the .44's

I jes' never warmed up to it,..... another caliber to buy components for & I don't have enough storage as it is !

But we DO posess loading data, because knowledge is POWER !!

41mag and 10mm: Two calibers that both deserved better than the niche market they eventually got.

They are consumed by the same demographic as the show Northern Exposure; too smart for prime time MSM.

Not being part of the lowest common denominator has its advantages.

While you're out, pick me up a hundred rounds of each at Walmart. Thanx!

Oh all right, one more time, let me show you how it's done.

Pay attention, there may be a quiz.

Excepting the AutoMag, 10MM is the "plus ultra" in an auto pistol. It is the ultimate in a CARRYABLE auto.
The .41 mag is a pretender, the .44 Mag is housed in the same size package(s) so there really is no useful place for the .41. Sorry, but fact is fact, even here in the 10-Ring !
Now if the .41 had some outstanding feature, then it would be useful.
Possibly as an overbore size for a Python, which won't take a .44 mag; Sort of a "40 for a 9" if you will....

The version I recall is the reverse of this. In the early days of the 41mag, the handgun manufacturers took the cheap route of simply using the 44mag-sized frame bored to the 41 bore. The 41mag version of the 44mag frame was therefore HEAVIER than the 44 setup. This blew away the possible weight advantage of carrying a 41mag revolver. The 41mag caliber drifted into a tiny niche market because there was no weight saving in carrying that caliber.

The Ruger RedHawk was also made in a .357 mag(!) version....."Yo, Boy, carry my gun,now !"
Like a Limey on Safari !
A LEO buddy still carries a WACO (forerunner to Bond) derringer in .41 Mag. Better than a Bic in an emergency, but hella nasty on BOTH ends.

The .44 had a 9 year +/- head start on the .41, so a new platform wasn't economically feasable for the mfgr's.

A friend of mine had a derringer in .45 ACP. We did the big passaround with this gun and nobody wanted to fire more than two shots. I can't imagine a magnum pistol load in one of those things.

Bic pen? Not my choice. Although, speaking of Bond, I think he had a neat trick in a movie where he used a Bic lighter and a can of hairspay.

Just saying .....

If I had the temerity to argue with you, would that earn me a chamber session?

Sorry, SR and Uncle. It looks like you are back to movie night with Mongo again. If it's any consolation, I understand that he got a copy of Robinson Crusoe on Mars and a bunch of microwave popcorn today.

No chamber sessions for you guys. But, if you are still up for some dungeon treatment , I'm sure Mongo will be anxious to help.

In this particular use of the phrase, I would say it is a good thing. I would also postulate that no matter how quickly you leave the area, she has the range and ability to slow you up a bit.

Although I don't own a "41", I have shot a few on occassions...so if I should be held in contempt, schedule me for a chamber session in order for me be fully enlightened caliber wise...

Okay ... Turns out, I actually LOVE the 41mag! Does THAT rate me a chamber session?

You are unjustly cruel on yourself, Unkle. You are providing the standard of comparison by which all the rest of us can look good!
