IPSC questions from a cop

My cop friend was recently bitten by the IPSC bug (translation: addict na siya;f ) He is using a Beretta 92F(yata), an he use fiber optic sights (if his beretta was issued with it)?

Is there a pinoy gunsmith who specializes in berettas?

Ask sir jerrytrini. I remember he even gave a small seminar when he was here for a vacation.

yup, i remember that one, if he's gonna have a part 2 on his return i'd set up my friend for that.

though right now, we need to find a competent smith for the beretta

yeah! i was able to handle jerrytrini's 92F when i was in the US last May and his trigger is buttery smooth!

problem with the trident brand, wala masyado spare parts and aftermarket parts available locally. I also don't know a 'smith who works on the berettas.

did your friend change the front sights to a FO unit? tell him, it's not allowed. but i guess papalusutin siya ng mga RO's.

nag search ka na dun sa BE forums about trigger work on a beretta?

Teka, if the gun aint broke , why fix it?
Dry firing which he needs anyway , will break in that trigger

I can't speak for IPSC Production Division, but in USPSA Production, a fiber optic is okay as long as you retain the conventional "notch and post" style of sights.

If he's using a Beretta he's issued with, it's probably a Beretta 92D or a double action only Beretta. If it's a 92D, it's already equipped with what we Beretta shooters call the "D-spring" which gives an 8lbs trigger pull. He can smoothen the DA stroke by polishing the hammer parts (both sides, the donut shaped raised part) that contacts the frame, the DA notch on the hammer, and the part of the sear that contacts the hammer. Some would advocate polishing the trigger, the trigger bar, and even the hammer strut. But the hammer and the sear are the key to Beretta's smooth action.

I personally bought parts from the last two (twice from Brignoli) and they're both excellent and professional to deal with. Brignoli can get you anything Beretta. He's from Italy but the speed of processing and shipping orders makes you think he's from Makati. His website is down right now but it'll be up soon.

I will be home in January. Let's meet up somewhere, I can bring some parts not much for some of you Beretta owners. I can also show some polishing and tuning techniques if someone can set it up.
