The public range is off of I75 at Tuckers Grade Rd. It can be busy during the week and downright crazy on weekends.
http://swfsa.tripod.com/ This is a link to the range club I just sent my money to. They limit membership to 300 so, it will take at least a year to get in.
http://www.swfps.com/fmrr.htm is another option. Can't tell you anything about them though.

Hey Dave,
I just got my letter from SWFSA last week. Woohoo! I just dropped my check in the mail yesterday. My fiancee and I can't wait to go. We went to Tuckers Grade once and it was plain scary. I've been patiently waiting for SWFSA to get to my name. I think I filled out the application this past August, so I made pretty good time getting in. Maybe we can meet up and head over there together in the very near future.

ssgt_acft_mech, you ask,
"What do you mean scary? Alot of people or alot of unsafe people?"
The answer to your question is YES! Weekends are especially bad. In my times there I have seen;
Children running around, none of them with ear protection.
One guys' handgun didn't fire when he pulled the trigger so, he's looking at the gun, pulls the trigger again and sends a round flying cross range.
The worst though, was when shooters asked if they could go down range to hang new targets. Guys yell "COLD RANGE! STOP SHOOTING!" About three guys pick up there stuff to walk down range, when I look over and see a guy loading his gun. I yelled out for everyone to stop. The guy loading the gun had no flaming idea what he was doing! There's no doubt in my mind that this guy would have started shooting.
This range is open to the public and has no suppervision.
P.S. What's the attraction to shooting AR's, AK's or any high powered rifle at a 25 yard pistol range? That one I'll never understand.

exactly.
it was a saturday morning/afternoon back in october i believe. i dont even want to think about going there now with all the snowbirds and extra idiots driving/living around here.
i was plain scared to hang up the targets i brought. i fired a hundred rounds or so through our new G19 and helped my fiancee fire off a couple mags and we left. sheeesh! we've been patiently waiting for our name to come up on the waiting list at SWFSA and it finally has! I'm gonna give them another day to receive my check and I'm calling to setup orientation and cant wait to try it out.

wow.....is there some disclaimer saying that the owner of the property is not responsible for injury or death? Maybe I'll just use my G22 for offing sharks when I go of shore fishing. Up here in S.Dakota the US Parks Service made an area which is I believe to be 100+ acres for people to shoot...The only thing they get pissed about is people shooting trees and dropping old appliances to destroy. Or I'll just treat it as a Military firing range....If someone pops of a round while I'm at the target area, I'm legally allowed to put a round in there *****^c
