New OS question..

My girlfriends computer oS is screwed up beyond repair. It has Windows ME on it. I want to reload it w/ Win 98 se. Ive done this stuff before but it wont let me load over so im thinking a reformat is in order. So how do I get to the c prompt? Its a HP.

you insert a boot diskette in the floppy drive.
you can create it with winME or download
boot 98se

You should be able to boot from the Windows 98 CD. Check your BIOS when you boot and make sure your first boot device is your CD drive. After you boot from the CD, format and partition the drive and install you new OS.

Here is the correct link

You need to rename the .ex_ to .exe once you download it.

I personally use bootdisk.com once I boot from disk (or CDROM). I clear the drive using fdisk after that the install has no problems.
