Windows Update - downloading?

I went to Windows Update and downloaded some XP security patches I was missing. I'm on XP Home SP1. The updates all downloaded and installed and it told me to reboot, which I did. All seems OK except down in icon bar (or whatever it's called down in the lower right corner) I have the Windows Update icon there and it says "Downloading Updates: 0%". I've rebooted everal times and this icon always comes back and never moves off of "0%".

What's up with that and how do I get rid of it?

Thanks!

Yes, Comcast cable.

I turned off auto update and it went away.

Thanks!
