armor piercing rounds
Are armor piercing ammunition legally available to civilians or are these bullet types regulated for civilian sales?
I remember seeing these rounds in Ultra Systems Megamall a few years back. The bullet is funnel shaped but I cant remember the brand or price.

Ya know... I can't recall an actual standing law banning AP from civvie sales, but I agree that there just HAS to be one out there...
IIRC Arambulo hawks pistol rounds with a steel penetrator tipping an HP bulet, with another non-lead element in the core. Around P200 a round. Heck, you could just wedge hardened steel bearings (sized to fit) in your drilled-out hi velocity 9mm JHP and voila...

Guys, please. It's the Philippines. We could own a Stinger missile if we wanted to. ;f
Seriously, I too cannot recall any law banning civilians owning AP rounds. I don't see the need for it anyway in the defensive context where overpenetration is a real concern. Some of us stay away from FMJs precisely for the same reason.

Masyado na manipis ang katawan ng pinoy for armour-piercing. Besides, if you're being hounded by BG's in bullet-proof vests, they're probably friends of the faher of your last date. ;f
Seriuosly, meron dati sa Twin Pines. IIRC, color blue na plastic yung tip with a steel base.

Baka kinulayan lang ng crayola yung bala, ibebenta na nang 150 per piece. Come to think of it, how does one really know na armor piercing yon, unless it's tried on a 20,000 peso kevlar vest?
Kung regular car windshield or bodywork lang, a 9mm NATO load FMJ (+P) o 357 magnum FMJ is more than adequate. Pero kung ang intent is to take down an armored car o Simba kaya, dapat depleted uranium tipped 50 cal slugs fired from a Barrett rifle. Parang mantikilya lang ang balat ng mga yan.

We should be more specific when we discuss "armor piercing" ammunition.
ANY standard centerfire rifle cartridge will go through ANY soft body armor without any trouble. Most of them would have a lot of trouble penetrating the armor on the side of an M1 Abrams tank.
