Midi editor

Need one to modify ringtones for my phone. I would prefer free or close to it. Internet searches have come up with little. Thanks in advance.

Since you don't mention what platform this is to run on I'll suggest a "live cd" version of Linux that you can download, burn to cd, boot directly from the cd, and run dozens of audio applications including midi from the disk. These are also available in distibutions that you would install to a hard drive.

DeMuDi is a version based on Debian Linux. DeMuDi 1.1 is a live cd version.

ReHMuDi is the Red Hat version.

Planet CCRMA (read karma) is a Red Hat 9 version that must be installed to hard disk and has been the best that I've used. These are very powerful packages with professional features that rival Pro Tools for mixing/recording and virtually every other audio engineering/recording/etc. stuff for midi and softsynths, extensive plug-ins that are used exactly like out-board rack equipment.
