Mobile AL to Baton Rouge LA

Planning a bike trip for next weekend [SatSun Nov 6/7] From Mobile to Baton Rouge. My older son and his wife on a new Honda 1300 VTX - Me and my wife on my Yr 2000 1100 Honda Shadow Spirit.
Any suggestions on sites to see while there? Street address's would be helpful so we could preplan routes to and from hotel.
Thanks...

I live here and what is interesting to others bores the hell out of me. What kind of fun are you looking for? eating, drinking, dancing, plantation visiting, or swamp tour? I wish you could come the weekend after that because LSU plays Alabama and that is going to be a good time. Let me know what you are looking for and I hope I can lead you in the right direction. I know the good places to eat and drink if that is what you are looking for.

RedhorseG20, Couple reasons for our trip there is: My son and his wife have a free night at a hotel in Baton Rouge - 2nd, we love motorcycle riding and it's a good excuse to take a ride there.

I've been there before & like the zoo. It's as good if not better in my opinion as the one in New Orleans. Just enjoying the ride and each others company.

Another reason there and not some other state(s) is LA recips AL's gun permits.

Thanks...

There are some winding roads just outside baton rouge. Go west towards texas and exit I believe hwy 77 or 71. Go south and that is about 30-40 miles of country road. slow speed limits in some places but still fun. You end up in plaquemine and you can jump over to river road and follow that back up to I-10 or keep going for a while. I'll pm you with my number if you want more info.

Redhorse, sorry I didnt' get to read this earlier. Trips over and done with now.

We had a good ride there although I don't really like the interstate that much it got us there pretty quick.

We did a little riding around town, not much as we don't like riding in unfamilier areas in the dark [kinda cold too].

Went thru New Orleans on the way back. Stayed there too long, had a couple hrs riding back after dark, not bad just cold.

If we do this again I hope it's for longer than one night. I'll post earlier if we do.

Thanks everyone...

That is too bad become so friends are coming into town this weekend for the game and there will be about 6-7 riding a long ride. These guys are troopers and we will wind up doing about 350 miles off interstate riding. Should be cold and fun.

sorry, this is waaay off topic. my apologizies to armycop.
do you know johnny roland. he is from your area. i used to watch a show he produced in your area called 'the shootin' show'. it was available only on big dish sat TV. i was a real good show. lots of good tips and gun rights discussions.
i visited with johnny on the phone a couple of times, he was a nice guy. he also did a little county singing, making a few CDs.
he is the one that came up with the .460 roland in the 1911 format.
just curious.
thanks
