EMS Movies

I turned on the TV this morning and FX had Bringing Out the Dead on. ;f

Personally I'm of the opinion that you haven't been in the business long enough until you can appreciate Bringing Out the Dead and Mother, Jugs and Speed.

What do you guys think? What are the best EMS movies out there?

Nate.

Bringing Out the Dead can't be appreciated or understood unless you've done the job. Everyone I've known who watched it and wasn't "on the job" hated it. There's some profound insight in that movie that is just fantastic. The book is even better.

Pstar, I've seen you do that for new employees before and almost wet my uniform pants...

When I saw "Bringing out the dead" in the theater there was a grand total of perhaps thirteen in the theater, including my wife and I. You could tell those of us that were EMS as we were just laughing as hard as possible. When you watch the movie, you can see these stereo types in your own agency.

Does anybody remember the movie named Paramedics? I remember watching it in the early 1980's.

I'm watching BOTD for the first time in about two years because of this thread.

For the record, guys, when you're down on the job, trying to hook up with the ex-junkie daughter of the guy whose code you just worked will NOT make things better.

From experience, hooking up with the cute 19 year old volunteer EMT at work doesn't help much either!;P

The last time I attempted such a hookup was at an EMS conference in 1998 or so. Our buddy in this thread, OBXPSTAR, beat me there and was dancing with her when I got there! He's now married to her with two kids. Now THAT was friendship. Love ya, buddy.

When I read the title of the thread I wondered if anyone had ever seen Mother Jugs & Speed or Paramedics ;f

And just for the record has anyone else read the book BOTD and (like me) thought it was WAY better than the movie?

I made the mistake of getting the book when the movie came out & read it first - was disapointed with the movie after that.

BTW - I STILL love the idea of having a souped up rig like in Paramedics but you wouldn't catch me dead ina Type II.
