My cat(s) have worms!!! ((can I throw the hurl smiley here??))

Well the bigger one, Max goes in tomorrow for his annual teeth cleaning, and I will just have him treated tomorrow.

He was on my bed tonight and I noticed what looked like "rice" near his backside on the blanket, and one was just emerging from that opening.....and they were slightly moving......ack!! ;0

Did a little research on the web and read that these are the egg cases of TAPEWORMS from fleas, (the "mother" worm is up in the cat's intestine, hooked on, feeding off the cat's blood supply).....and the kitten just had a good case of fleas, Max licks the kitten, and likely injested the fleas and their eggs and thus got worms (all this cycle of life according to the web)......so if Max is infested, so is the kitten.......(both cats are now flea-free now)

Gonna treat both cats.......

Can I just tell you all how dayum grossed out I am with this...??

I did a search on Petsmart's website and apparently there is a thing with THREE worm pills that used to be prescription but is now over the counter for $19.99 (I am buying stock in that company!!).....it's "Tape Worm Tabs" by Tradewinds......

I guess this is just a wake up call that if your pets have fleas (or had them) they are gonna have Tape Worms!!!

About 20 years ago I took in a stray I found roaming the city streets.
Soon after I noticed the little "rice" type of things in his cat bed.

I took him to the vet though for treatment rather then buy OTC meds myself. It was taken care of quickly and easily and never recurred.

yeppers...they just feed'em worming stuff and its taken care of!

You can buy worming pills over the net.....they are over the counter.......

The one the kitten had was "Cestex"....and then Max was given "Drontal" which is probably the most popular worming pill. It kills ALL intestinal worms where the Cestex only kills the tape worm.

Since these are both house cats, they do not go out, I do not think I will have to worm them again.......since the fleas are under control.

Milo, the kitten had his rabies shot and he pretty much slept for about 24 hrs afterward......he's back to himself now......;g Wrestling with Max and getting into stuff.......
