Today's generation of heroes

Looking through the images on this website made me so nostalgic. The 1st Bn, 501st Infantry (ABN) was assembled from the Charlie Airborne units one of which I spent 26 months of my life with. I left that unit when I left the Army in early 1988 after four years of service. I was there when the M224 60-mm Mortar was fielded. (60-mm Mortar Crew )

It's hard for me to believe that I was ever so young. Makes me wish I could turn back time and once again be a part of something that is so special, those who have never been in the company of such heroes will never trully understand.

Say a prayer for these guys and the guys who have replaced them in that part of the world (like the VA-ARNG TF who landed in Afghanistan just this Summer).
