Labs water & vests ( duck hunting )

Who here have any suggestion on picking out a flotation vest for dogs? Is it better to be to big vrs to sml? Also, what dangers , if any with the vest getting caught on submerge items or reeds,sticks,etc.....?

all the dogs i train and run ( clients and my own dogs) use the neostretch avery or cabelas armored vests.

we have alot of snags and underbrush, not to mention briars in eastern OK.

i also think that in late Dec and Jan that the vests help conserve energy.

the vests need to be snug..
BTW...

i have yet to find an easy way to put one on ANY dog..
it always ends up looking obscene........LoL.

if i was in a warmer climate, without the briars...i dont think i would use them though..

it is more important to keep you dog still...than anything else..

they have a little..
i really dont know why they have it at all..to thell you the truth.

its not needed in a vest for a genetically bred retriever.

now if say it was on a breed like a german wirehaired pointer that was being used as a retriever..i'd say yes..
