Give your kitties a hug tonight

Less then a block from my house I just saw a cat dead in the road. It had been hit. I didn't see it get struck, but it must have only just happened.
I pulled over to check on the cat to make sure, but it was gone.
I'll spare you all the details other then to say it was an all black cat with beautiful fur. It appeared to be well fed and was doubtless someone's pet.

I came home and all my three got big hugs.

I hate seeing pets hit in the road.

I hate seeing dead animals in the road. I don't understand how people say they love their pets then let them roam into the road???

I feel the same way Dragline. I love my animals and seeing domestic dead ones in the road just tears me up.......

my cat just happens to be all black.
Saw a black and white one on the shoulder on the way home too. Happens once in awhile since I live around a bunch of farms.

If I see a kitty in the road that's been hit, I have to try hard not to tear up. It always makes me want to go home and hug mine to so as to assure myself that she's OK.

Some people feel it's mean to keep cats indoors exclusively. Against their nature and all that. I don't agree, but I can understand where they're coming from.

I had one cat sneak out while I was carrying stuff in one night. He got hit right in front of me, while I was trying to coax him back inside. Guy didn't even slow down.

I'm switching to dogs after my last one passes on.

How will switching to dogs help??? They can get hit just as easily as a cat can.

I can train a dog to come back, sit, stay, go out, whatever, that will keep him from getting hit should he end up in or near a road. Try getting a cat to do that...

So, no, they can't get hit just as easily.
