LCD Monitor help

I want to get a 19" monitor for Christmas and was wondering, is it true that 25ms response time is not enough to play games (shooters)?

Do you know of a brand that makes 19" LCDs with lower response time, 12ms, maybe?

hold on, i think you are confused here. response time refers to the lag on your internet connection. I have never heard of a response time on a monitor, frames per second on video cards maybe but not 25 ms response time.

Viewsonic makes some nice LCD's with 16ms response times. You may see some ghosting with 25ms.

?? I'm confused. I've never heard of this (not that I am anyone special!). I have a Gateway FPD1730 17" LCD, and previously a Gateway 17" CRT monitor. As far as I can tell, I've never had any problems with either of them, and can't tell a difference in "response times" between them. I play fps games a lot, both single player and online.

So...Can you explain more what you are talking about?

wish i could help but i just learned about it today. all i know is that most 19" have 25ms response time and the guy at bestbuy said it is not fast enough for games. he recommended 12ms, which most 17" can do.

BTW seems dell has some 19" with better than 25ms response time

I don't play games and I don't have a LCD monitor but I see some HDTV's have DVI and maybe VGA input. Now that might be interesting for playing games on a big screen.

This has to be one of the best LCD monitors on the planet.

And it's 6 years old!

The bad thing is you have to buy a multilink adpator due to the fact that SGI wanted to corner the market on thier propritary SGI connector.

The reason I have never heard of that is because it was only an issue on really old LCD montiors.

I recently researched LCD monitors when I built my new system. I originally planned on getting a 19 inch monitor, but I found that most didn't have higher resolutions than the 17 incher's. Plus most 17's had better contrast and faster response times, and were cheaper. I'm perfectly happy with the 17" display I got. If your really serious about gaming, you want a low response time, somewhere around 12-14 ms.
