The glorious return of the naked bikes

I know that the naked bike trend is already in full effect, but I just wanted to show some of the latest offerings:

Sorry, I didn't mean to leave out the Far East contingent. It just takes a lot of time to surf the net and find photos.

Buells are such kickass looking bikes. Its really too bad they use a crappy Harley engine though.

The Big One

Naked bikes never really went away. I owned a Honda CB 1000, I believe it was a 95 model. They were called "The Big Ones". The story goes it was designed by Japanese engineers on their own time, who wanted something different.
I liked mine, but its power band was much too soft for a 1000 cc naked bike. It was a smooth runner however. It ran pretty well off road too, as I found out while down at Daytona one year, riding with a friend. We were blasting down the interstate when all of a sudden he decided to turn off onto a rest stop. When I saw him turning (he was behind me) I slowed down hard to make the exit ramp. I had too much speed and ran off the road into what Florida refers to as grass. I stayed upright as I rode through the sand and then back up to the roadway.

The Triumph Speed Triple. This bike is so badass that I would consider getting it over the Ducati Monster. If only it were to come in red...

I think that the red model was a one-off. The current production colors are black, blue and yellow.

OK, looking at these bikes and "listening to you folks"...have you ever heard of Power Flow as in Extrude Hone Powerflow?

If you have that's us...Extrude Hone...and Power Flow is one of the 7 or 8 divisions. Good stuff going on there...flowing heads, intakes, exhausts, etc. Really neat.

Actually there is a demonstration one-off Speed Triple that was painted red, but for some reasons Triumph didn't make that paint job for the production line. Blue? Puh-leeze!

Gotta hand it to Triumph. They know how to take a lump of a motor, and make it look sexy. But that headlight, instrument cluster treatment? Fugly.
