Offended by the lack of EMS toys

Am I the only one who notices that only fire and police get the cool toys???

Go to any toy shop and look around in the car and action figure section.

Bet you can't find one WIRELESS remote control ambulance or more than one or two figures that even HINT at EMS. (I've been looking for over a year. Trust me you won't find ANY).

Remote control fire engines and police cars reach out and choke you, they are so rampant!

Same with porcelyn (sp.), more expensive statues. TONS of fire and police statues. Name one EMS related statue. I'm sure they are out there, but they are rarer than an honest lawyer.

Every time I see a set of bears that includes a nurse, FF, LEO, and soldier, I want to puke because there is never one for EMS!!!!

Anyone else take offense to the lack of recognition EMS providers get from toy companies???

Thanks!

I'd say most recognize Fire/EMS as one.

I agree, but if that's the case, why not make some of the toys EMS related?

How many fire trucks (ladders, tankers, etc) can serve as ambulances, and vise versa...can't happen!!!

Every other group worth their arse pisses and moans when they don't get recognition, why doesn't the EMS community?!

Sycamore Township Fire

Engine 92 is a 1999 Seagrave Pumper with a 2,000 gpm pump, 750 gallons of water and 2,000 feet of supply line hose with fire fighting lines of over 800 feet. This engine serves a dual function as it is also a paramedic engine that can transport a patient to the hospital.

I stand corrected...thanks!

However, if there are such creations, why don't toy makers model toys after them?? HMMMM??????

I'll tell you why! Because kids want to be fire fighters and cops. How many kids even know what an EMT or Paramedic is??? I'd bet less than a half of one percent.

What is the fun in saving someone's life by just walking into their house.

To kids you should either be kicking in their door and shooting the bad guy in the house (cops and robbers) or climb a high ladder and pull some screaming lady out a window...now THATS fun!

I'm just bitter because I have no wireless remote control ambulance:(

You know what I meant...our entrances are boring!

Nothing exciting about just walking into a house. That's just one aspect of EMS, but you can see how a kid wouldn't be attacted to what we do. Hence the explanation for the lack of EMS toys in my opinion.

Poduck-

I agree with them not loving ya till they need you. Ever read the poem that covers that? In it there's mention of people complaining we drive to fast to get where we're going, but once we're there the people complain that we took too long to get there...anyone know what poem I mean??

But seriously, I just want a remote control wireless ambulance!!!

In a world with so many fricken useless toys, it's a little sad there isn't one!!!

Thanks for the replies!

Vanmark "Medics of Valor" series
http://www.grandio.com/default.asp?categoryid=6811

(Don't bother going to the VanCorp home page - it's abso-freakin-loutly worthless in terms of trying to see the figures they produce. You're better off just using google)

BTW - if anyone happens to have Hero #3 (the full size one) from the "Red Hats of Courage" collection and are interested in parting with it - e-mail me.

N2D-

I've seen those before. Those are pretty much the only ones around for EMS. Thanks for the link.

Maybe it's because all the accesories would be choking hazards. Take a 8" EMT action figure. The stethescope, 12 lead ekg, aid kit etc would all be really small. The gourney could be fun, but I don't see them working any better than the real ones.

i can see the choke hazard with a EMT figure, but if you had a Medic figure you could just grab the mini laryngoscope and magill forceps and be a HERO

Wow, been doing EMS full-time for 15yrs and never seen a pumper with a cot in the back. Cool little set up. Sharp looking truck also. Not a fan of green trucks but that looks nice.
