Anyone have some favorite spots well away from civilization in this general area during the summer?

There are many spots in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, or the Cherokee National Forest, according to your interests. You should be able to find spots to backpack, car camp, fish, or just hang out. Backpacker.com and GORP.com both have some good articles on these areas.
