Specs on 85 Pontiac Firebird
Can someone point me to a sight that can provide me detailed specs on an 1985 Pontiac Firebird, with a inline 4 cylinder 2.5L engine, and 5 speed manual transmission?
I have tried to google the info, and keep gettings tons of parts and the likes.
I am looking at picking one up for $200 bucks, it runs, and has new brakes (complete to master cylinder) and a new fuel-pump. The only real issue is the paint is peeling.
I am curious about the gas milage, and weather or not the small 4cyl is enough to even get the car back and forth.
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.
I have tried Edmunds, Kelly Blue, Autobytel, and many other sites, and cannot seem to find any true specification besides colors.

lots of good info in that site. If you can't find what you need log-in and go to the forums section. Forget the inline 4 swap a 305 tpi into it for less than a #1k....;f

Thanks for the info, I will look into it.
Have you or anyone you know driven this model with the 4 cylinder? I am just curious if it realy lags or what. I am starting a new job, and will only be driving 30 miles a day, round trip. I am currently driving a 95 Geo Metro, that is on its last legs, and used to drive 100 miles a day, round trip. I just want something cheap for point A, and back again. Not to hard on gas, and I can repair for cheap. I have a very nice Burban, that I use for "outings" and want to keep mileage low, and the gas tank full!
Thanks again.

From what I remember, it was a real dog but if your coming from a Metro?? Drive it till the 4 explodes and then swap in the samll v6 if economy is all you want. The v6 was a great motor and plenty durable. IIRC my 6 cylinder got about 24mpg and my 5.0 tpi gets around 20mpg (providing I keep my foot out of it). I would expect the 4 to get somewhere around 28mpg, girlfriend had one years and years ago.

my 1990 Formula 305 TBI gets me 23 mpg city and 27-28 highway. The Iron Duke in the 1985 will be a dog from a stop but once you get going the mileage should be great.
