Wax products/techniques?

With warmer weather arriving (Finally!!) it will soon be time to get back to doing my own washing and waxing. I was looking at getting one of those orbital polishers to speed things up, but I'm a bit worried about paint swirls. Is there a particular type that is safe to use? And which waxes tend to give the best results?

Second, how many use the clay bars before polishing/ waxing?

Swirl marks SUCK. I use Pro Detail pure Carnuba wax ($25 a gallon), Mothers is great also. Swirls really depend on how good you are with it? and the condition of the paint.
Me personally I hand wax as I keep it up and clear coat is good.
I want to try a new was that is a $100 a use, but gets over 150 washes a application;P

Waxes suck. They coat the paint and wash off WAY to easily. Only thing I ever use is Zaino Brother's brand of polishes. Lots of science behind Sal's products, and he is CONSTANTLY tweaking them. I used it exclusively on my 2001 Firehawk, and won the 2002 Carlisle All-GM Nationals division plaque.

Great stuff, won't wash off (like most other stuff out there) and its UV protective.

I'll second the Zaino Bros. stuff. It is the best that I've found. However, it's not an easy task to put it on. There are multiple steps and it takes multiple coats, but Sal has a scratch filler that actually works and the vehicle shines great.

From what I read it's pretty much Zanio or Klasse if you care enough to take the time to do it.

When I want to get rid of swirls I use a porter cable buffer and Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish.
I'll Clay my cars once a year with Clay Magic. As far as protectant I use Klasse and P21S carnauba. All personal choice.

Wash car. Clay it then wash it again to remove the residue. A coat of Klasse AIO (all in one) which is a cleaner polish/protector. Followed by a coat of Klasse high gloss sealant glaze. I'll usually put multiple coats of the HG over a couple weeks. I'd do it the next day again but I have to go to my parents house to do it. Then the P21S when I want to wax it.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I'm going to look into the Zaino's and the Klasse stuff.

That is a beatiful ride Tony! I really like those Acuras. I checked out the new TL at the Auto show and was thoroughly impressed.

I use Mothers or Mcguiers wax three times a year and clay bar once a year.

Seems to work well;V

The main thing I'm worried about is the sun.

I'll jump in and cast my vote for Zaino as well. The prices are decent and the products are first rate. I used to order from them way back when they didn't even have online ordering capabilities.

If you follow the directions, the results are flawless. ;D
