Mac n Cheese mix ins???

What do you mix in with your mac n cheese?

I usually use my own blend of cheddar, romano, and parmasean cheese...sometimes a little ham...

what else do you use to make it better?

Thanks

I like a little BBQ sauce in mine! Mistakenly mixed a little BBQ sauce from my pork chops or chicken one day and liked it. Only a small amount though.

I like to add a can of “Dynamite Hot” Stag Chili. No other brand of chili works for me. I have tried other chilie brands – or even other Stag Chili products, but I end up throwing the whole thing out. “Dynamite Hot” Stag Chili & mac & cheese ROCKS. I have won over many a convert. (Even those who don’t like “hot” food) Mixed like this the heat is very mild, but the flavor is FANTASTIC! Because I like a little more heat, I like to add a tablespoon or two of pepper jelly. Other variations can include a few ounces of cream cheese and or cheddar.

Years ago I had a great recipe for a mac and cheese soufflé. It was light – fluffy and wonderful. I have tried to replicate it with recipes tracked down online in more recent years but the results did not match that which I used to create 15 years ago or so.

I throw in a can of tuna and leave out the butter. It's a very healthy meal.

Browned ground deer meat and plain old velveeta suits me. That's the most I've done to mac n cheese.

It's been a while since I've been a poor college student; but I still like fried diced SPAM and Tobacso in my mac 'n cheese, if it's the boxed stuff.

For the real stuff (homemade Southern-style), I like to add halved cherry tomatoes before it goes in the oven. Mrs. thetoastmaster really likes it, too.
