WHo's hunting waterfowl this year?

I am just starting out this fall. I never really had the time or money to do it before. Goose starts here thursday.

Who else is into ducks?

What calls and decoys do you use?

What size shot do you use?

Dalhart Texas goose hunt in December!!!

Oklahoma isn't great for ducks, but it's ok. I use #4 steel or #6 Hevi-shot. I don't use a call (I would scare them away!), I just use decoys.

I'll be hunting our goose opener tomorrow morning... I'll be using my Beretta 390 loaded with Remington Hevi-Shot #2's.

Our 1st duck opener (we have 3 separate ones) starts October 1st... I'll definitely be hunting ducks hardcore this year, as usual, but October 1st opener also falls on the MI opener for archery-whitetail... got to decide on which I'll do... wish I didn't! :(

recommend you go some experienced hands and learn in the field. wear cammo gear, learn how it all works, be safe, and have fun. generally #2 steel @ 3" is a good choice for duck.

I'll be goose hunting in about... 7 hours. ;f ;f ;f Early goose season, with a 5 bird daily bag limit, opens 30 minutes before sunrise, tomorrow morning (Sept. 1). Runs to the 15th. Did some scouting this morning, and again this afternoon. Got several big flocks pin-pointed.... but probably so do other hunters. I saw several other trucks cruising around this afternoon... DU decals on the windows, a lab in the back seat, and binocs on the dash. It's gonna sound like WWIII tomorrow, as there's plenty of geese around this year, and water levels on the lakes are extremely low.

Goose call is an old Olt, that I've had for about 25 years. I've got 3 dozen floaters, and a dozen super-magnum field shells. Shotgun I use is a camo Beretta ES100 Pintail, Hevi-shot #2s for geese, #4 for ducks... and most importantly, I've got a Chocolate Lab that lives to hunt.

Duck season starts in another 24 days. I'm all ready to go for that too!!! Don't know the brand name of my duck call... it's coca-bola wood, and I've had it for 25 years or more. Have yet to find another that sounds as good. Only thing new in my arsenal in the past few years is two of those spinning-wing decoys (Lucky Duck brand w/ remotes)... they really do work. And a new 10hp outboard for my duck boat.

Michigan 2005 "Early" Goose Opener Report!

Well here’s what I did this morning about 20 minutes after “shooting light”… I limited out at 3 in a 10 minute time span, the last 2 were a double & I still even had one shell left in my gun… what a GREAT way to start the 2005 waterfowl season!

(Man, hitting your “daily bag limit” is always bittersweet, isn’t it? )

I live to duck hunt, bar none. Teal season opened here last week, and many limits were filled an hour or so after shooting light. So far, this season is off to a bang (especially compared to last season) Duck season here hasnt even been set yet, so we'll have to see

I am fanatical about waterfowl hunting. I took last year off to dedicate more time to college, and it nearly killed me. I will be hammering some honkers and ducks next weekend, when our season starts. I did get in on some early seasn hunting and missed some big birds. Myself, and my fellow goosebusters are really looking forward to opening weekend. I am up here in northern MN, where the birds are plentiful.
