Can you kindly explain that?

If you need help with spelling or anything, I'm sure your mom can help.

Not so sure, myself. But, FWIW, I thought posting the very few recalls of those Toyota vehicles compared to the numerous recalls of several other vehicles would indicate buying Toyotas was a sensible thing. I guess that was somehow less than clear to some.;Q

If an individual is so dense as to not realize that Toyotas are a better overall vehicle in terms of reliability and quality; then I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't comprehend the simple data you provided.

number of recalls is simply one facet in the durability of cars, I wouldn't definitely disagree with anyone claiming that X brand is the most reliable based simply on the quantity of recalls. Like I said, based on that list, Porsche is more reliable than both Toyota and Honda.

Until you explained it, I had no idea what the hell you were trying to say by posting copyrighted material. It's all so clear now. Thanks.

Ok, then there's today's news-- both Ford and Toyota;Q are recalling lots and lots of vehicles.

Oh, well.

But does reliability always make for better? Do car buyers also base their decision on other factors as well?

Of course there are other factors in choosing a car such as style and price; but why would someone buy a car that is known to have problems?

There are also cars that are very nice, but are also unreliable, such as the VW Jetta and Passat. Very nice cars and they look great, but they have so many electrical issues that I would never own one.
Also, the Mercedes-Benz of late is a great car that excells in luxury and refinement, but they are also getting worse and worse in terms of reliability.
My dad owns 3 of them, and when talking to the mechanic the other day at the dealership, he was told that the new cars just aren't made as well and the value of the older ones is increasing because they are just so much better built than the new ones.
Sure, you can look at the Chevy Malibu and the Toyota Camry, and maybe like the Malibu better, or it is cheaper, but in the long run if it loses all of its resale value and is in the shop once a month; is it really worth it?

Another way to look at it.

Toyota simply doesn't care about the vehicle after the sale, and won't issue a recall until it becomes a very well known problem. Whereas GM issues a lot of recall to make sure problems get taken care of before the customer even knows there was a problem, making the customer happy.

I'm not saying it is this way, I own two Toyotas and will own more in the future, just another way to look at it.

Does official recalls really have all that much to do with how reliable a car is? I've had cars with no recalls that broke down a lot, and I've had cars with recalls that never broke down.

Unscheduled stops to visit a mechanic would be a much more reliable number I would think.

Cough cough b******t!

No American car maker recalls a car unless it's going to end them up them getting sued if they don't. The others are not much better. Recalls cut into the bottom line and they do everything they can to avoid them.

You have no clue how recalls work do you? Do you really think GM spends millions of dollars to fix their POS cars out of the kindness of their hearts?;Q

Like I said, this is just another way to look at it, I never said that this is the way recalls are issued. The original poster was trying to say that one vehicle was better than another based solely on the number of recalls. Recalls can be as simple as a reprogram to make the automatic door locks work the way the owner's manual says it does (2005 Chevy Uplander), or as complex as replacing head gaskets (late 80's into the 90's Toyota pickups with 3.0L V6 engines). Just because a vehicle has a large number of recalls, doesn't necessarily mean that the vehicle is a lemon. On the other hand, a vehicle may have zero recalls, but fall apart at 100,000 miles.

All I was trying to do was just throw out another line of thinking as to why one manufacturer would have more recalls than another. Which, I thought I explained pretty well at the beginning and at the end of my statement.

Your post would also indicate that Audis and VWs are sensible to buy. While I happen to like them, they are not a "sensible" car as far as recalls and reliability. I don't know why they're missing on that list.
