wow, first time over 100mph on the bike

WOW WOW WOW WOW

That was a rush. I rode the 600R to work today, and then to guitar lessons after work. I was coming home around 9pm, and ther was nobody on the road, I mean nobody! This particular stretch of interstate was a 70mph zone, straight, 2 lanes each way, lighted, and went down into a valley. I thought "lets go for it!" Downshifted went up to 100 for a little bit, then hit it and went to 120. OMG what a rush. I was suprised at how fast fast that 600 got up to 120mph. Didnt feel like it was straining too hard at all. Up next, a new exhaust system, and a power commander.

Do you guys remember the first time you went over 100 on your bikes?

Man I wish it have been on a 600r

1971 Kawasaki 500 mach 111 . Crap brakes(drums) unstable frame, garbage tires. Man that was fun . I insist on doing it on a regular basis ever since . Good Luck and Ride safe.

1992 Suzuki GSX 600 F Katana. It was scary. I think mostly because it was on a public highway.

NOW I try to go over 100 mph at least once a week, but now I reserve it for the tracks.

1983 Honda CB1100f.. first night I'd Ever been on a bike, fresh from 2~3 hours in a couple different bars, no gear, 15 miles of 2-lane backroad in Montana... scared ****less. I did it nearly daily for most of that first summer. Not sure why I'm still alive (or how I managed to not crash into oblivion).

I haven't been over 90mph on the street in close to a decade now though. I found better places (namely, the racetrack).

I will admit to going over 100 MPH on a few occaisions, but doing do at night is just plain STUPID!

There is no way you would be able to stop if something was in the road, and I doubt you'd have time to avoid an obstacle. You were overriding your headlights, unless you had a searchlight for a headlight.

Going over 100 MPH can be exciting for a Newbie, but the real challenge is taking the twisties and keeping it smooth.

There's a well-lit section of the freeway near my joint that is usually empty of traffic in the middle of the night where I would "open'er up" a bit. I've gone flat out on the Rockster (speedo bouncing off 130-MPH and I think those things are clocked at around 120+MPH), but I haven't gone past an indicated 140-MPH on the Tuono (probably around 120-130 MPH for real). The Tuono isn't as stable as the Rockster, so I got a bit nervous and backed down.

Those rice burner 600-cc crotch rockets will do 150-MPH easily and then some.

Doing high speed run is thrilling with the adrenaline rush. As long as you don't do it in traffic and will only kill yourself and nobody else, it's cool by me.

Yeah I was wondering how fast it woudl top out at, even though I will never have the stones to do it.

I figure the bike could do at least 140mph with no problems.

The Japanese 600 supersports usually top out at around 150-165 MPH. The liter bikes topping out around 170-something. The hyper sport tourers (Hayabusa ZX12, K1200S, etc.) top out high 170s to mid 180s. The Japanese voluntarily restricted the top speeds of these things to 185 MPH - the Hayabusa when first came out was cracking 200 MPH and caused so much furors from the nancy boys that the Japanese makers had to put in limiters. I'm not sure if the BMW K-bikes have limiters or not, but I'm not surprised if they are governed.

I've personally clocked one of my riding brothers at 189 on his almost stock R1 on a flat stretch. He said he still had a little left in it too but the draft caught his left leg and pulled him hard. I know he's taking his engine apart to do a bit more to it. He's hoping to try and reach 205. YMMV though.

I've seen 190ish on several occations on several bikes. My friends turbo GSXR750 went 202mph (GPS), and another friend went 210mph (GPS) on a turbo 1216cc GSXR, out in the middle of nowhere, of couse. Bonneville is the place for that stuff, but that's a long haul from here. I'd be happy with 200mph, just once, on mine. We'll see.

145 back in the day (early '90s)on a 900 Ninja.
125 today on my ZX10R (but I'm still breaking it in easy).
I love living in the middle of nowhere, smooth, arrow straight, 4 lane divided that goes for 70 miles with no interuptions and extremely light traffic.

Im always amused by people who claim this or that speed on this or that bike, yet these numbers are faster than the records set by teams of highly experianced people with huge budgets.

Must be something mystical about slapping some stickers, pipes and a GPS to a street bike that makes it go so fast.

I've been 200mph on two wheels, I'm also a pretty big guy, thank god for sertco big blocks, J&E pistons, Nitrous Express. P.S. Idid this back in the mid 90's on a 91 GSXR 1100.

Stickers? Slapped a pipe on it? HK, you've gotta be kidding. I/ WE BUILT these bikes. I worked for VANCE AND HINES DRAG RACING TEAM and know the guys personally. I live in Indianapolis and would LOVE to show you. Let me ask you, have you ever built a bike that will spin the tire/lift the front wheel @ 90mph on the throttle? How 'bout riding a bike with 300+ (some of them 400+) hp @ the wheel for a test ride after "slapping" $15K at the motor? Trust me, the bikes I'm talking about will go as fast as you could ever want. Here's a picture of an '02 600 Gixxer with the engine mounts modified (rewelded) and a 1025cc '03 1000 motor in it. The engine alone had $6K thrown at it (not including nitrous). It's for a customer of mine, I'm not into chrome, but he's paying...... One of the most violent street bikes I've ridden.

'91 Gsxr 1100!!!! I'm building one right now. 85mm JE pistons, big block, $4K cylinder head, all stuffed into a '91 750 frame w/ "4 over arm. I'll get some pictures of that when my brother takes some with his camera.
