L-Arginine and running

Hello, I have a friend who swears that he can run, spar(we do karate), and in general have better aerobic capacity when taking L_Arginine 3x a day, with a carbohydrate drink, I have not seen any studies on this, but he takes the brand made by NOW....

Basically, he says that when on it for several weeks and running it seems to make a difference, then when he was off it and kept the same running routine there was a noticable difference.

Has anyone ever heard of this? I know it is an essential amino acid.

Thanks

L-Arginine is mostly useful in nitrogen retention in your muscles. Most of the "N02" supplements on the market are chiefly comprised of this amino and other vasodialator ingredients.

If you really want to get a boost during workouts and any endurance missions, mix BCAA (Branched Chain Amino Acids) powder into your Electrolyte beverage of choice, and consume during training. I have been doing this for about 4 years, doing intense strongman training outdoors in Floridian weather... and swear by it.
